8 K's thru 4 innings for Norris.

This is starting to get a little ridiculous.

Speaking about nice K rates, any of you serious draftniks have a read on this guy? 62Ks in 52IP for GCL Jays.

Update: This won't happen. Norris finished after 79 pitches (five innings). I guess they don't see the point in wasting his remaining innings. Pompey got his first AAA hit after a pair of K's. Pompey and Gose sure make up an interesting pairing on the bases.

So yeah... Norris may just be ready. You gotta love it when things come together in a hurry.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

The 85 pitch limit was likely the determining factor, although I'd assume they want to get him a few outings out of the pen asap and have him in Toronto on September 1st.

Wow. It's entirely possible that the Jays rotation next season includes Stroman, Norris, and Sanchez, with guys like Graveman and Nolin serving as depth. When you factor Hutchison in there as well, that's a lot of homegrown pitching talent up in a hurry. I'm not sure that will lead to a contending rotation in 2015, but at the least it might open the door to trade some excess salary (Buehrle and/or Dickey).

Looking back, it's really a shame the Jays traded Syndergaard. Add him to this group of youngsters and wow.

And Syndergaard might not be #1 on the list of pitching prospects I regret trading.

Chris King had some nice things to say about him. Throws low 90's I believe. A bit old for the level at 20, but he's definitely intriguing given the size, velocity, and performance as a LHP.

I don't really care about the pitching prospects that were traded. Can't have a 15 man rotation. There are a lot of decent looking kids in the pipeline. The problem wasn't trading them away, it was Josh Johnson pitching like an ****.

Nasty, nasty stuff. Very few ropes there.

He was with the Jays for 2 years before being traded away. After how many years in the league is the 'prospect title taken away?

I think Alvarez has definitely jumped up a level in terms of performance, but keep in mind he is pitching in a pitcher's park (1.46 ERA at home, 3.62 on the road) in the National League. Put him at RC against AL East lineups routinely, and I'm not sure he would be pitching like an ace with a 5.0 K/9. However, had he stayed and became a 4.00 ERA innings eater (for example), he would have produced pretty much what Dickey and Buehrle have, except for the league minimum. Makes you realize just how much value the first six years of a pitcher's career really has.

As far as having too many pitching prospects, that's not a bad thing. If they still had Noah along with everyone else they have currently, it would have given them the opportunity to trade Hutchison after 2015 (for example) for 3-4 prospects and replenish the roster while the next pitching prospect graduates. It would have been exactly like the Rays (the team I feel the Jays should be emulating under current ownership). I mean, it could still be done, but getting another prospect like Syndergaard won't be easy.

Man, this situation would have been so much sweeter if the Jays had made the playoffs in 2013 and/or 2014. They've restocked the system organically in less than two years even after the big trades. MLB success would have been icing on the cake.

Was at the game. Glad I got to see Norris pitch live at that park. Pretty good atmosphere for a Thursday night.

Love the way this guy pitches. Goes out and doesn't mess around or nibble. Throws strikes and as evidenced by the 9 Ks and his million other punchouts this year he can put guys away.

He mentioned in an interview that he doesn't compare himself to anyone but he loves the way Kershaw pitches. His delivery kind of reminded me of Kershaw. But I'm in no way comparing them otherwise.

Stroman
Hutch
Sanchez
Norris
Old balls starter (Buerhle or Dickey)

Looks good to me. Lets go young with this rotation in 2015. AA might be saving his job if all these guys start next season with the big club
That's what she said.

It's funny that the post game interviews with the Bison's manager and Norris himself emphasized how "not sharp" he was last night, that he didn't have command of all his pitches. But he battled through it. The suggestion was that he may have been a bit intimidated by the "Toronto people" at the game.
