Playoff bandwagon thread

Post#1 » by Tyrone Slothrop » Sat Sep 27, 2014 3:01 am

Who you got? I'm going for some combination of Royals/Pirates/A's/Dodgers. Rooting strongly against Tigers/Giants/Cardinals/Orioles. Mixed feeling about Angels/Nats.

I dislike or hate them all in the AL except Oakland and Trout. I guess the Dodgers or Pirates in the NL.

Pirates and anyone playing against the Orioles. Although given how last post season went, I have a feeling I know how this years playoffs is going to go...

Well, the Cards are my NL team, although we're not close, and because I feel their fan's pain I'd like to cheer for the Royals, but any team that has that bad a lineup and intentionally hits their clear cut best hitter 6th is not something I'm willing to commit to. They're destined to make a decision that costs them a series that'll leave me fuming if I get too attached. I'd much rather laugh at them when that day comes.

Usually there's a game that pulls me towards a team and my pre-playoff whims are cast aside.

A's, just to put the stupid Moneyball can't win nonsense to bed for good.

No one. This season made me sick of baseball. I'll barely watch. But I guess if I had to pick, I'll hope for the Angels and Dodgers so people can't use the money ball excuse for why the Jays don't need to spend money.

LOL at TBS stats. They won 75% of their games when scoring first during the regular season so they make a fancy looking graphic saying that the A's have a 75% chance to win the game.

Taking Shields out there was always going to be a mistake.

This is where bad managers lose games. The Royals essentially have three closers in the pen, but bring in one of their starters in the 6th inning with two on and no out. That starter also pitched four innings on Sunday.

It wasn't so much taking out Shields as it was taking him out for a RHP who isn't even used as a reliever. With Moss and Reddick up, it absolutely should have been a lefty (and if not that, simply Wade Davis).

maybe as you say. i just happen to be a BIG Shields guy -- a broken bat single and a walk is no reason to take out your best pitcher who's warm and winning for a nervous young kid (or nearly anyone in the 6th).

Yep, Yost is truly one of the worst out there.
