At least Estrada will be put in the rotation after today, hopefully. He should have won the spot out of ST. However, if they feel Norris doesn't have the command to be in the Majors yet (and he probably doesn't), then we're in trouble. Unless Jenkins continues his Houdini act and keeps putting up deceivingly good ERA's in the Majors.

Your assuming the prevailing logic on this board is present in the Blue Jays' manager's office.

What is the timeline on Doubront anyway?

After Stroman went down, I don't think logic exists in the Jays front office. However, I do think they will put Estrada in the rotation. They didn't pay him $4M to be a long reliever. They wanted Sanchez in the pen and Estrada in the rotation but Stroman got hurt. It's only a matter of time before they make that switch. Norris is a different issue. He does not look MLB ready so far, but that's to be expected from someone his age who really only broke out last year. A bit more time in the minors would be fine for him and possibly add that extra year of control. The issue is no one is there to replace him. I'd have to see Doubront and Santana pitch before assuming they will come in and contribute.

Pretty much, I think the writing is on the wall though. They have the ability to replace one of their starters at the moment and Sanchez is at least capable of getting you 5 innings an outing a bit more often than Norris. Definitely the lesser of two evils at the moment.

When is the last time baseball saw an all Canadian pitcher/catcher battery?

Norris has completely lost his command since ST, more than the results i'm worried that there's elbow troubles in his future

whoever told you that is wrong

I dunno. Thanks for the video link. That looked like it should have been caught. It was over his head but not much so. I've seen Maybin make a number of more difficult catches in this series alone.

That's three runs there. Then the error by Pompey on the throw, and that's another run. 4 of the 5 runs scored could be avoided with say Maybin there instead of Pompey. Or Pillar in CF.

Can't wait for Saunders to get back.

No you're wrong, those line drives right at you are not automatic plays.

More importantly, you can't just change one thing in the past and pretend everything after that doesn't change. For all you know Norris would have given up two grand slams after Pompey makes that catch

The person to "blame" here is Norris, his command was just horrific, he would have almost certainly be shelled regardless of whether or not that catch was made.

what a laughable turn through the rotation. when present day mark buehrle is your "ace" then it's gonna be another long campaign. zero confidence in any of the starters winning us a game any time soon

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

right now the Jays could be favorites for last place. With Drew Hutchison taking a step back instead of building on his promise and Sanchez and Norris looking like they are its hard to see how this season ends up not being a disaster. We need Hutch to get it together and hopefully Norris' command struggles are temporary, he went through this in AA for a couple of weeks and got it together after that, lets hope it happens again.

Cautionary reminder that we have just played two weeks of baseball - but this rotation (and other in house options) may be the worst in the entire American League.

Can't believe I've been looking this up but I think George Kottaras may have caught a bit of Axford in Cleveland last year.

That was my first thought, but Martin's first season was 2006, and Gagne only pitched 2 innings for the Dodgers that year. Not sure if those 2 innings were to Martin or not.

Quite likely. Martin and Gagne overlapped very briefly...Martin's rookie year was 2006, Gagne pitched only two innings that year before leaving the Dodgers. But one of those innings appears to have been pitched to Martin.

Might have been someone else pitching to Martin in the interim, though.

Offense has been the best so far too, which puts us right in the realm of mediocre as expected.

At least there is a glimmer of hope that the offense sorts itself out without a massive overhaul.

Betting Axford and Kottaras for the Brewers before that.

John Axford/George Kottaras in 2012 with the Brewers is the new clubhouse leader:

This is correct.
