2015 Blue Jays' Trade Rumours Thread

Post#1 » by FrankGrimes » Fri Jul 3, 2015 3:27 pm

unlike last year, i think the blue jays make a splash and get themselves help for the run this september. among names mentioned, once again is jeff samardzija. the jays aren't the only team asking for him which would only drive up the price but he'd be cheaper than cueto, no?

the jays according to AA almost pulled off two trades in may according to kennedy from the star.

what's at the top of your list?

2 starting pitchers, and some bullpen help would be nice.

based on what the media reports other teams are asking for, i'd find it real tough to upgrade the team via trade. AA will have to overpay severely for help that will surely go into ufa (no comp either!) this offseason.

unless he finds a trade that keeps the player under control, the jays should just live or die with what they have now.

even an ace won't put this team over the top. we're talking two aces, and maybe a closer as well.

I can't help but feel those quotation marks are unnecessary.

We need 2 starters and a closer ASAP. Trade #1 / Buehrle / Trade #2 / Dickey / Estrada. (Yes, notice no Hutchison. He gone)

A bullpen with Closer #1 / Sanchez / Loup / Delabar / Cecil / Shultz / Hendricks

hopefully is enough to get us the division title.

Yea, Osuna has sucked so badly as closer that he's out of our bullpen completely!!

Maybe he's closer #1? Let's cross that off the list then.

Jason Frasor has been DFA'd by KC. I think they should give him another shot.

Why hasent he been picked up yet?... by anyone.

He is a 1.45 or something ERA last i checked and only reason he was DFA was because KC is loaded in the pen.

Stroman for Cueto discussed here:
http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/baseball-central-should-jays-dangle-stroman-for-cueto/

The discussion basically goes no where and is entirely speculative in terms of Stroman's availability, however an inactive guy like Stroman with his potential does seem like an obvious candidate to be shipped in any major deal. gulp.

I heard that, I hope nobody in our organization is entertaining that idea. I want nothing to do with trading Stroman for a rental. Less certain prospects? Sure. Stroman looks like he's good and won't cost us much for a long time.

Samardzija is not very good, hoping he is not AA's target. Don't believe AA will get anything done, maybe a non factor bp guy out of someones dumpster.

I'd be very surprised and angry if Stroman was shipped out. Sanchez should be the obvious choice from our major league roster. Stroman or Travis should not be shipped out for a month or two of [insert pitcher's name here]

AA was talking about the Jays waiting for teams to feel like they're out of it before the trade market opens up. At this rate, the Jays could be sellers by the deadline depending on the type of job security that AA feels he has. There are 16 games until the deadline but with most of those on the road and a west coast trip coming up, the Jays could easily be 4-5 games under .500 by the deadline and feel like sellers.

I cannot even fathom that there are people in this world who are dumb enough to consider Stroman for a Cueto rental to be worthy of discussion.

stroman has to be the least obvious candidate in perhaps the entire organization to get dealt for a rental

- fan favourite
- under team control until like 2020
- probably our best pitcher

don't think he goes anywhere for a rental...

the scary thing is, the reds aren't going to GIVE CUETO AWAY. any team will have to offer a first round quality player at the very least. they are probably looking for a player that can help them now (hutchison) a player that can help them soon (norris) and a player that can help them down the line (reid-foley)

will the jays trade hutch, norris and reid-foley or a similar regarded package for a rental?

i pray to the baseball gods that the jays wisely pass and not put the team another 6 years back.
