I know a lot of people don't like Zaun but he's the only one covering the Jays with enough balls to call out stupidity when it occurs.

After all the gloom and doom and crappy offence, 7-7 isn't half bad considering it consists of 8 road games in Boston/Tampa and 6 home games against NY/Boston.

Prime Casey Janssen was definitely better than Storen will ever be. After Henke and Ward, Janssen is right there among the best RPs in franchise history.

3/36 for Happ considering the market was always a fine contract even if he went back to pre-Pittsburgh levels. Seems he's picked up right where he left off, though.

Agreed. Janssen was so reliable. Always hit his spots. Storen does technically have a great slider, but it doesn't generate much interest... so its kind of a waste.

Well, at least it isn't his arm. We have a total of zero dependable RPs now, though. Cecil needs to find that 2nd half form again and fast.

Janssen could command four pitches really well and he almost never left something over the middle of the plate. It made him really difficult to square up.

Storen's velocity on the FB being about 2 MPH below last year is not helping him right now.

We still might. I'm not sure Revere plays ahead of Saunders and the Nationals were so desperate to find a CF that they're playing Revere out of position.

Janssen was really good when he played here though, if he's only slightly worse than that we made a good trade.

theres a reason why all 8 playoff teams have amazing pens all the time, the 7, 8, and 9th innigs are biggest in baseball...we gotta improve that pen, we dont have enough weapons in there...our starters pitching like this all year?

I remember a few posters in particular calling out this signing and calling out Shapiro for being worse then AA ( without letting the off season and regular season fully play out) ( not calling or referring you our Boogie). Referring to a dude who only posts when the Jays make a bad play  :banghead:

Some quality relief from Storen there. Let's hope he finds his pre-Pabelbon stuff right quick.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

This is the new theory because KC won the series using that formula but a starting pitcher giving you 200 quality innings a season is still far more important than a RP throwing 60-70. If you give up 3 runs in the 2nd inning, the 5th inning or the 9th inning it still counts the same on the scoreboard.

Also, the bullpen is much easier to fix during the season than the rotation. The Jays know this was well as anyone, fixing the bullpen on the fly last season after they blew multiple games in April/May.

Yeah I mean if we could have Price as a direct swap for Happ I do it but Happ for 3/36 is a good deal. The way he is pitching right now though he has been a steal. 4 of our 5 pitchers have been good-to-great (Stroman's ERA is worse than what he has provided).

the casey janssen comparison comes from the fact that hes a soft tosser that has some decent movement and offspeed stuff... but yeah, i liked casey janssen but a worse version of him is a guy that doesnt throw hard, doesnt have great command and gets hit a lot... and thats what storen is... i always thought storen was a power guy for some reason and am super disappointed at what ive seen... i feel like his nationals numbers are inflated pitching in the national league and that he wont be as successful up here, especially in the al east...
mdenny wrote:In anycase....Masai is probably gonna make Fred the first active player/head coach in franchise history now that Nurse is out of the way. That's been the plan all along.
