Our last chance to win a series in April. Well, it was until 6pm rolled around and I had to make a series thread. Now we're just boned.

Feel for Stroman, giving up a series of piddly singles and losing to a high school sophomore.

We've actually squared the ball up fairly well today, in a season where we square it up never. Oddly, those ones were caught, and the piddly-ass contact has been falling in.

More so today than his first few starts; while those were very good he wasn't getting strikeouts, and that leaves a pitcher at the mercy of the BABIP gods. He's missing bats tonight.

what do you think the difference is tonight? did he change his approach from trying to get contact like he was last season? i haven't watched much this season.

Hard to say if it's a major adjustment or a single-game sample, but he's fishing for Ks. Walked Beckham on a 3-2 breaking ball earlier, which I liked; his stuff is good enough to try to limit rather than manage contact, and that was a moment where he and Maile decided to roll the dice instead of throwing over the plate. He can be a good pitcher staying around in the zone; he's a better one when he leaves nothing where it can be driven, and as he's through 7 under 100 pitches, he's not inefficient, either.

Also: Pillar is absolutely our offense. And back into a tie for the team lead in HRs.

Quality job by Grilli here.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."
