Our defense has imploded this year. Brutal.

Estrada sitting 87 on his fastball with no control. Gotta think he's not 100% healthy.

Pull him before this game is over.....Gibby vs Estrada. Nice to see we are back to annoying pitcher/coach nonsense.

Estrada looks either disinterested, like he's going to cry, or like he's about to go bonkers in the dugout. I can't tell which.

Oh look more abysmal defense from this joke of a team.

Conserving energy on pointless groundouts is one thing. This team is **** lazy and disinterested. Bunch of overpaid losers

Thankfully- Liriano and Estrada are free agents after this year. Thank God last year- that Shapiro/Atkins did not budge, and were not willing to give Estrada the Third year of the deal he was looking for. With that 27 M, the Jays can go in another direction to improve the starting pitching. Estrada should be moved to the bullpen. He only has pitched 3-4 innings in his last 5 out of 6 starts.

Moved to the 'pen in favour of who, though. Our options are Biagini, who was getting rocked, or Bolsinger, who was getting rocked. We have no starting depth beyond them.

Regarding Liraiano/Estrada, assuming our payroll remains at the same level and Bautista walks, we'll have about $35m to fill two starting spots, RF, flesh out the 'pen, and address the various deficiencies in our lineup. Possible, sure, but one hell of a juggling act.

I would move Estrada to the Pen, and give Tepera a try as a starter. Regarding the payroll- hoping Tulo and Martin are moved to free up an extra 40M, but that will be tough.

Tepera was awful as a starter even in the minors, unfortunately. Never really had the stuff for it, and walked too many guys to boot.

Moving Martin might well be possible; Tulo's probably our problem for the remainder of his contract, though. We might have a shot at trading him for nothing if we picked up most/all of his salary in 2018 and 2019, but that wouldn't help our payroll issues next season.

Gee, another error. What a gong show. Like they're walking in concrete out there.

Couple nice plays from Tulo... looks like he woke up.

Regarding your 35M number- Estrada is making 14 M, Liriano is making 13 M, and Bautista is making 18 M. So, the Jays will have 45 M off the books, when all three guys are not brought back. Hoping the Jays can move Martin or Tulo as well, to free up additional space. But like you said- Tulo might be a pipedream.

$45m off the books =/= the same to spend. We have some major arb raises kicking in this winter.

Not to mention that the Hays aren't paying Liriano 13M. Pittsburgh is covering a chunk of that.
