Kirk's stats against Cole yet he bats 7th while Schneider, who has been struggling for a couple of weeks now bats cleanup. Why? Does this make sense to anyone?

16 AB
7 H
3 2B
1 HR
3 RBI
.438 AVG
1.250 OPS

I wouldnt put much stock into those numbers. Kirk has been an absolute disaster at the plate this year. Only reason he continues to see at bats this late into the season is Jensens injury. If not for that, hed be stapled to the bench with his feeble at bats and inability to run the bases.

Very predictable first 3 at bats. Didnt take enough pitches imo. At this rate Cole will easily go 8 innings.

This might be over early with how Berrios is looking so far.

At least this one is over early and we won't waste any high leverage guys on this game. Obviously no chance they're scoring 4 runs off Cole.

All 4 teams will now be tied in the loss column. It's gonna come down right to the last game, where some random Ray will no doubt throw a shutout.

Taking 2 out of 3 was fairly good.

Not nearly good enough with the Trop coming tomorrow.

Realistically, if the Jays go 5-4 after tonight, then they are probably in good shape. That means SEA/TEX would both have to go 6-4 despite playing each other 7 times, and the Astros would have to go 6-3 in order to finish ahead of the Jays (accounting for the tiebreakers), and the Astros play Seattle 3 times as well. One of those teams in that scenario probably finishes behind the Jays.

Of course, can the Jays go 5-4 when they face Cole/King/Rodon next week and have 6 more games against the Rays? That's the tough part.

Berrios is a very considerate guy and saved all of us nearly 3 hours. Glad to at least win the series in New York. Romano should be well rested for Tampa tomorrow, having not pitched since last Sunday.

I don't anticipate they'll go 5-4 unless those Rays games don't end up mattering at the end. It's a really difficult schedule considering they've got the Rays 6 times and King/Cole in two of the NYY games.

They're gonna need more help. Really, they're gonna need one of SEA/TEX to absolutely destroy the other one in those 7 games they play against each other. We don't want a 4-3 split.

Also, in the event of a 4-way tie (which seems relevant now that they're all tied at 68 losses), the Jays are the team who miss out as well. Not beating good teams all year coming back to bite us in a different way.
