Nats (26-18) at Braves (26-20)

Post#1 » by Jollay » Fri May 25, 2012 2:09 pm

In a battle for the NL East lead. Love the Nats getting two lefties (Detwiller and Gonzalez) up against the Braves' lefty oriented lineup plus Strasburg on Saturday.

Chipper hasn't been playing, is a little banged up for the Braves, and McCann and Freeman have been out a few days dealing with more minor issues as well. Not sure who will play for them but I imagine we'll see all except perhaps Chipper at some point this weekend. Braves have lost four straight.

Still early, but two out of three still goes a long way here. I like the Nats' chances.

Braves just got swept 4 games by the Reds so this will be an interesting series. Love the fact that we got our 1-2 punch pitching in this series. Sunday's game is on ESPN by the way!

Nats crush Hudson and win 7-4 in game one.

Last few days have been great for the Nats. Took care of Halladay for I think the first time in history, and beat Hudson, which hasn't happened hardly at all.

Wang pitched well in relief of Detwiller, who was all over the place, although not horrible. Looks like he will soon supplant Det as the #5.

Braves don't look great, partly I think because of a flu bug. McCann did not look well last night as he filled in for an injured David Ross.

Strasburg and Minor in a late afternoon game today.

Big sweep, Gio was absolutely on fire and you have to wonder if he's the favorite for the NL Cy Young at this point in time considering Beachy was the early candidate. Bats are coming alive finally, and Morse is coming back in a week or so. I believe they already clinched a winning record on this road trip, swept the Braves, took 2 out of 3 from the Phillies and have a 3 game set in Miami starting this afternoon.
