Good for him. It'd have been nice to see him make some kind of postseason run to cap off his career, but he was one of the best during his time and has nothing to prove to me. This is better than seeing the more likely outcome of him being battered and broken before he even gets to the playoffs.

I'd have loved to see him on the Texans for a season but one more neck injury could probably make him spend the rest of his days on a wheelchair so I respect his decision to go out.

Not a betting man... but I have a strong hunch than getting to play golf with his dad in that tournament this past weekend helped him make the decision to move on. I'm sure the wife had his ear... and the broadcast offers have to be appealing as hell. But knowing how close he and his father are (basic knowledge around here), I can't help but believe he found the decision to walk away a whole lot easier after Sunday.

7 20-plus touchdown seasons (1st)
5 400-yard games (1st)

And yet his entire career can be summed up in 1 gif

Sorry, had to do it

I could see him being the new Brett Favre type name that gets thrown around for any team needing a QB going forward

This is really the best option for Tony and his family. He's got some pretty sweet offer from FOX and CBS. My guess is that his offers from them would pay him more than if he signed with Houston or Denver.

Someone was going to sooner or later...

For me - the "bad" was the 51-48 Broncos game in 2013. That was such a kick in the groin... and the Cabo trip will also be a bullet point although I blame Crayton more for the Giants loss than Romo.

There was plenty of good though. And I think his legacy here will be as a terrific QB who just couldn't get them over the hump. He will be remembered well. Not a Hall of Famer... definitely a Ring of Honor inductee (after Ware and Witten).

Not too shabby for an undrafted QB.

:D

Is CBS broadcasting the Super Bowl next year? If so, Romo will finally make a SB. Talk about the irony in that. :P

It's alright, I would have rather had Romo than McNabb if it's any consolation

Rare that I agree with my Philly buddies on Twitter, but when some stupid Cowboys fan insisted to them Romo was going into the HoF, I was forced to shut that fool down. All the "likes" were from Iggles fans.

I feel dirty.

Yeah idk about the Hall of Fame. It is pretty hard to get into the football HOF as opposed to basketball.

Yeah, I actually would put Romo & McNabb in close company. Good Qb's during their time. But, could never get their teams over the top tho. Good, not great.

It's hard to get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Another bit of irony is that Romo just did to Phil Simms what Dak did to him this year.

Hey that's the "Great" Phil Simms you're talking about, as said by Bill Parcells. On the football field he was a fighter, in the booth he was very lackluster and down right annoying sometimes, and there was Cris Collinsworth.

Simms always seemed really annoyed with the modern NFL player. It came through in his broadcasting. That's fine for the average fan however not when you're broadcasting games.
