Sayers averaged 5 yards a carry, for his career, which is elite company.
Also he never finished lower than 5th in MVP voting in his first 5 seasons, which gives me a good indication of how good his contemporaries thought he was.

OJ ran for 2000 yards in 14 games. That is just unreal.

Sanders also got his 2000 in the last 14 games of the 16 game season for 1997.
The 1st and 2nd games he only had a pedestrian 53 yds, but finished the season with 2053 gaining 2000 yards over those last 14 games that season.

Agreed. Gale would dominate even in today's game with its safety rules in place while many in today's game would quit than play in their times.

Yes it does as he us now known as the one who got off scott free after all the evidence against him cause of his greatness in football.
