Tracy Mcgrady...the Old man at the Y

Post#1 » by ComboGuardCity » Thu Oct 28, 2010 5:54 am

Being in my 20s, I still play a lot of basketball and sometimes scrimmage at the local Y when I'm back home. The way T-Mac played tonight reminds me of that older guy at the Y who always seems to play effectively even though he's obviously lost a step. I don't know how to explain it any clearer, but do you guys kinda get what I'm saying? A player like that is always a good influence on a team.

I agree with what you said above....he played well and was one of the few Pistons that seemed to want to get others involved.....

However.....every minute he plays means Daye, Summers, and White are not.

McGrady is good. But he has no future here like the others I mentioned.

He's a great playmaker. I saw a lot of passes to Maxiell that should've been easy assists. I feel like if he keeps playing this way he'll be a good reason we'll be in the playoffs. Since Kuester sucks, I don't think that's even credible. I agree we should play our young players. So the only way I can think of that is trade Rip and make Tmac come off the bench for 10 mins to play with Stuckey, Daye, Maxiell, and Monroe.

Rip needs to go. I don't understand why Dumars keeps him. I really don't understand that.

Tmac reminded me of when Pistons got Webber

Slow, no lateral quickness, but kept the ball moving and offense flowing. If he keeps that up then Bynum becomes expendable also. Pistons dont need Wills scoring, they need passing.

Seriously, this team has too many scorers and not enough guys that facilitate, rebound or play D. If TMac can keep the ball moving and offense flowing, Id rather he play PG for the 2nd unit than Will. They dont need Will Bynum taking 10 shots when they have Gordon in that 2nd unit.

Please Joe D make some trades. Please

Goodbye Rip, Bynum, CV. Its not that you suck (that case can be made for CV) its that you are more of the same, a score first SG, a score first PG and score when im hot and when im not I provide nothing PF. These pieces don't fit. They don't compliment the team. Im really scared that Joe D cannot see this

I must admit that TMAC impressed me, I didn't think he would have a role at all but he did a great job facilitating out there.

Summers is a chucker, but I thought Terrico was only out a couple of months, thought I haven't been able to find anything with his actual time table.

Anyway, on to TMac. Get this man PG minutes (For a few games at least). I was extremely impressed with how controlled the offense was when he was on the floor. He slowed everything down and ran some pretty plays. If only Max could have finished some of those chippies TMac got him. His defense was good, and he only took one shot that I thought was maybe a little mildly questionable.

I'm not saying that TMac is going to be a superstar again, or even a starter, but he clearly remembers how to run an offense, and we could definately use some more of that on this team. Watching him direct the players and set up the plays, I could only think about how much this guy could teach young guys like Daye and Monroe.

Anyway, very pleased with what I saw from him last night.

We really need a pass first PG, so having guys like Prince and Tmac who can create for others at SF is a bonus.

That said, I'd give him up for a defensive minded young athletic wing in a second. I wish Summers could be that guy, who comes in with the mission of locking a guy down defensively rather than trying to come in and be instant offense.

I would love for TMac to come in and be the primary ball-handler based on last night.

So far... being one gamme... he seems to have bought into the team concept, he wanted to move the ball rather than put up his shots. I hope he realizes it and buys into a team concept, because he could be valuable.

I don't mind 15-20 minutes of TMac making some plays. We need smart ball handlers, Stuckey/Bynum/Rip just have the worst tunnel vision sometimes.

I'm very pissed off at Bynum. He didn't pass for ****. If he does this more during the season, I say trade him.

If I see more of that stuff during the season, I say trade him (Both guys you're talking about).
