I can't speak about Dave Bing because I'm not going to pretend I watched him.

1. Zeke
2. Joe D
3. Chauncey (I had gave it to him over big ben because he really was the floor general of that 6 straight team)
4. Big Ben
5. Laimbeer

This. I love Laimbeer, but I just don't see how anyone could actually justify putting him over Lanier. Yes, Laimbeer played on better teams, but he was certainly not a better player than Lanier was for the Pistons.

Out of who I've seen

Isiah
Joe D.
Ben
Rodman
Grant Hill - If he had played on the Pistons 10 years earlier or later while in his pre-injury state, he'd be no. 1 or 2

Honorable Mention: Chauncey, Crotty, Laimbeer

John Crotty, the balding, middle-aged looking white guy who got some 10-day contracts roughly around the Grant Hill era and could neither run the offense nor shoot nor do anything afaik????

If so, well played.

If not, well my knowledge of Pistons lore isn't that good.
100% of teams would select Nerlens Noel with the 1st overall pick.

How can Grant Hill be a better Piston than Laimbeer or Chauncey? Do you realize Chauncey/Laimbeer led us to Championships and multiple Finals, while Hill never got out of the 1st round?

If I'm picking the faces of the franchise historically, its not going to to be someone who couldn't even get us out of the 1st round. Its unfortunate he got injured, and maybe he could've gone on to big things, but based on what he did do, I can't put him in that pantheon of Piston greats. To me, you earn your stripes as a Piston in the playoffs. Not off of regular season stats. Thats why I don't put Lanier or Bing on my list either.

Hill in many ways was the anti-Piston. Guy who puts up big individual numbers in the regular season, is loved throughout the league, but does nothing in the playoffs. If you think about the makeup of the great Pistons, they are the opposite. Not the best individual numbers, disliked around the league, but enormous playoff success.

If we are just rating all the Piston players on talent and individual accomplishments, then Hill probably could make the top 5. But I thought the ranking was 5 greatest, in terms of which 5 Pistons meant the most to the franchise all-time - like a mount rushmore of Piston greats - in which Hill would be far down that list, imo. The greatest thing Hill did for the Pistons was agreeing to the S&T that got us Ben Wallace. :D

Vinny Johnson won 2 rings here, but no one in their right mind would put him in the top 5 players ever to play for the franchise or even top 10.

You can't fault Hill for not winning a playoff series with that supporting cast that was put around him. It was garbage.

I wouldn't put VJ in my top 5, but he's certainly way above Hill on my list. tbh, I dont even consider Hill as a Piston great because I dont think he did anything for the franchise. He was the face of one of the worst eras in Pistons history - The teal era. Thats not a good thing to me.
