We could probably also get Derrick Williams or any number of disappointing first round picks from the past few years, that doesn't mean it makes a lick of sense for us.

Besides, if we're going to trade Moose, we're almost certainly going to ship him out of the East unless we get a mind blowing offer.

Stein saying it may only cost 1 pick in the Love deal. Maybe they are looking to deal Wiggins/Bennett/1st for Love and then use another future pick for a Center.

If they got Love and Monroe to go with Varejao, they wouldn't need Thompson anymore. Maybe a Thompson + a future 1st for Monroe could work.

If the Pistons could get future first round picks for Monroe they should do it. If Cavs need those picks to get Love though it probably won't happen.

A couple late first rounders are basically junk, those won't be lottery pics until after LeBron retires.

Late 1st picks are not junk. At worst they become valuable trade assets that can help later when we're getting close to contention and need that 1 extra piece that often requires picks to get.

Not really. Early 2nd rounders usually have more value than the 27th-32nd because of the guaranteed money. This year was a very rare exception.

I'd take it with a couple second rounders or a future 1st

No they don't and this year wasn't an exception. Late first picks always have more value than any 2nd rd pick. Unless its a team in financial trouble, but that is usually the rare exception not the rule. Most teams can afford to keep a late 1st rd pick and do, and value them more than 2nd rd picks

Do you consider a Monroe for Wiggins trade as a real possibility?

Most of you are terribly undervaluing Bennett and overvaluing Monroe's value to this team. Monroe at 12-14M per is horrible value for us. I agree Cavs need to add a 1st rd pick to justify the transaction but with or without it I'd take Bennett at his contract over Monroe at whatever it'll take to keep him.

To clarify on those Cavs picks, they have three 2015 1st rd picks, two of them are from the Grizz/Heat.

So if we were to get one in a deal for Monroe it could be better than whatever the Cavs record ends up. With the tough West, that Grizz pick could end up in the lotto, and you never know with Miami being old they could end up in that mid-1st rd area or even lotto too.

Monroe right now seems to be a guy who just wants to get paid and doesn't care about winning though, so I doubt he takes even less than we're offering just to play for a contender.

Says the guy who wants Eric "pay me 5/$80 million" Bledsoe for said Moose.

What does Bledsoe wanting the max have to do with Monroe not willing to take less to play for the Cavs?

2nd rd picks aren't worth more than 1st rd picks. Stop with this nonsense.

There aren't even 32 picks in the first round lol
