2015 Push for the Playoffs thread!

Post#1 » by RexRyan » Thu Jan 1, 2015 2:53 pm

January 1st, Five games out. Hollinger has our playoff odds at 8.9%

Only five games behind Miami with 51 to go....... The teams in between us aren't exactly searching for that final piece...... Here we go!

Does anybody really think we have a chance to make a playoff push with the team as-is? Do we need to make a trade for a SF to make a big push?

I feel like if we got a starting calibre SF it would definitely improve our odds, but I don't think it's required for us to make it.

You’re right. I say keep the team the way it is until it becomes really necessary or a top-tier player could be had.

On a side note, Kings forward Eric Moreland went down with a shoulder injury. Would anyone give up the amazing three-game winning streak we’re on to hold on to J. Smith if you knew Kings would have traded for him now that Moreland is out?

Who the hell is Eric Moreland? And why would him being out increase the odds of such a trade?

What small forwards could we trade for? Wilson Chandler or Jeff Green? I think an upgrade at Small forward would make us a much better team.

I honestly think the team is playing great as is.. They all seem to feed off eath other and enjoy playing together. No trades are needed.. Even Singler has been D'ing up..

I also like the rotations.. Perfect mix of talent on each squad.

At least no trades yet.. Let's ride this uptick out as far as we can before our weaknesses are exposed more.. Without Smith we are completely different even to the teams we are playing.

5 GB is not bad at all and the Heat are dealing with a ton of injuries. I actually think we have a chance to sneak in. Let's stay the course though. I like how we have been playing and how the team is acting, I wouldn't make a trade yet.
Even though everyone hates on Singler, with him, Butler, Jerebko, KCP, Tolliver, we have quite the committee that can play there.

I'm thinking we should hold off on trades as well. Jeff Green is a decent 3pt threat but is only shooting 31% this year. Wilson Chandler only 35%. With all the three's raining lately, we might screw that up by replacing Singler in the starting lineup with a lesser shooter since he shoots 41% from three.

5GB is nothing if we can keep up the cant miss shooting for another 6-7 games somehow.

If we can do that & catch a little luck I think getting in is a possibility.

Last 3 games Drummond looks like a superstar.. Where are all these post moves coming from? He really is starting to look like Shaq with that jump hook.. Then he just dunks anything close. kid is filthy.. Remember how mad and concerned everyone was when he stunk it up at the beginning of the year?

Please change the title to "Push for mediocrity." This team needs to bottom out and land a guy like Karl Towns or Mudiay to be anything big. Monroe will still likely leave, so why continue being a treadmill team? The last 6 or so years of being a treadmill team is not enough?

Dre has had those moves since he came into the nba. See his kings pre draft workout tape. It's the confidence he's building that allows him to implement footwork into his game. Playing alongside Monroe helps as well

There isn't a rookie in the upcoming draft that's going to be a savior. Pistons are better off showing honest to good improvement. Regardless of whether they make the playoffs. They're finally watchable as well.

Exactly. I have no desire to see them squeak in as a #8 seed, get crushed in the playoffs, and wind up with a #15-16 pick who can't crack the rotation. Develop the young kids at the cost of wins. That's not tanking, that's doing what's best for the long term future of the team.

The thing is we are featuring our young talent AND we're winning..I hate that loser mentality of tanking to MAYBE get lucky...There are more teams that continuously suck from that strategy than make it work.
