Mirza Teletovic

Post#1 » by MotownMadness » Sun May 1, 2016 5:41 pm

I really think this will be one of SVGs targets right out the gate in free agency to take over Tollivers role. Teletovic is perfect for that role and is coming off a pretty good season.

12.2ppg
43 fg%
39 3pt% (5.8 3PA per game)
77 ft%
16.2 PER
57 TS%
21.3 mpg

Clearly a perfect stretch 4 off the bench for Stan's system that brings a huge upgrade over Tolliver. Would you guys be happy with him as our Tolliver replacement and if so for how much?

For me it depends on how much he signs for. We probably could get Tolliver back at around the same money he made on his last contract. Plus Teletovic seems like one of those guys that sign here and forget how to shoot.

I don't want Tolliver back unless it's a role like Joel Anthony has or something. His age is really showing but I wouldn't mind having him for desperate situations like injuries or whatever. But his time has a full rotation player looks to be coming to a end unfortunately and I would be pretty disappointed having him getting those kind of mins again.

Let's say we could get Teletovic on a 3/24 type deal or something. I think I would be pretty comfortable with it.

He'd be a great fit if we can get him on a decent deal and still be able to sign a quality backup PG.

As is tradition with the actual Detroit shooter's curse.

Look what happened to Meeks.

Same age as Tolliver.
Nearly the same size.
Neither will be part of our core in three years.
I would not be willing to pay significantly more than for Tolliver.

Really? I thought dude was in the 6'10 240 range. If he's not able to stand his ground against real sized PF'S then my interest wanes. I still actually have my eye on McRoberts.

McBob has been like a train wreck down in Miami. He hardly does anything anymore. Personally, I would pass. But, I bet Miami would give a 2nd round pick or another asset to move him. They are aggressively looking to unload contracts. In that case, it wouldn't hurt to take a 2 year flyer on him.

Didn't SVG say he wanted a bigger, more athletic back up at PF?

Harris & Mook give up too much size for us to play them there for 48 minutes

Someone with a skill set similar to DMo is what we're probably looking for

the problem with either DMo and Mirza is defense.

I believe Teletovic set a NBA record for most 3 pointers made by a bench player in a season.

Isn't that moreso due to injury than anything else? Kinda like Meeks? I remember he got hurt very early last season and miss the whole year. I don't even know the story for this year.

My issue with Tolliver is he is very unathletic.

It really bothers me when I see players miss time their jump for a rebound. Drummond does it but obviously he makes it for it in heaps.. Tolliver is slow and about 1.5 secs behind everyone else.

Dont get me started on how when he's ISO'd out on defense how he virtually is left on skates everytime. Great guy for the lockeroom and clearly shooting is his best suit, but I would love a shooter who was a tad more athletic or atleast can stand his ground on defense.

True. But, even when healthy, he rarely can make it past 20 minutes in a game. He isn't shooting, passing or rebounding anything like he used to. He looks much stiffer than he used to play.

As the new backup PF, I'd be all for it. He's like a better Tolliverse.
