You can't undersell just how huge of an upgrade Utah has made at point guard this summer. Going from Shelvin Mack, Raul Neto, and Trey Burke to George Hill, Dante Exum, and Shelvin Mack/Raul Neto is a gigantic. They're getting Alec Burks back too. Can't forget about what should be an improved/more seasoned Trey Lyles either. The Jazz are going to be one of the teams I'll make a priority to watch when I can. I think will be really impressive.

Adding JJ & Diaw should be an indicator that they're serious about taking a big step now.

The article is accomplishing the goal it set out to achieve. People are talking about it and it's generating more clicks. Of course the Warriors are #1 so they had to create a little "controversy" and throw in a dark horse in the top 5 to generate clicks. Nobody actually believes Utah is that good.

I honestly don't know who their staring wings are anymore. I just know about Conley, Gasol and Z-Bo. It's been a carousel of wings since Gay got traded, Mayo walked and Tony Allen declined.

EDIT: I forgot the Grizz gave Parsons that monster contract! They'll definitely regret that one in a year or two. Or six months.

Anyone else find it kind of funny that Wade and Rondo are on the same team? Those playoff battles that became personal were wild. Now they play together. Wade is probably going to push Rondo over the edge. It will be fantastic entertainment.

Gobert is the best rim protector in the league...

You lost me already.

Yup. Gobert averages 1.5 block per game less then whiteside and while I know there are more factors in rim protection then blocks, Gobert is not the best rim protector even in a fear factor sense.

Perhaps in time, but lets be realistic.

It's arguable but with Favors on the front line next to him they look like the second coming of the Wallace boys. Unfortunately Heyward and Hood are a step slow on defending the perimeter and penetration but Hills presence will allow those two to funnel their man in the right direction. Like it or not the Jazz are going to be good.

Gobert is so much better on the defensive end than Whiteside, any non-boxscores-watcher knows that.

Hey now the assertion was rim protector not the entire defensive end of the floor.

Whiteside is a better rim protector, but a worse all around defender then Gobert.

I think we got different concepts of what a rim protector is.

Pau Gasol blocked more shots than Marc, but Marc is clearly better protecting the rim. Like Bill Russell said "The idea is not to block every shot. The idea is to make your opponent believe that you might block every shot."

Anybody can block 4+ shots a game if that's all they are doing on defense, the key is to protect the rim while not leaving your man wide open or in a position for easy clean ups.
