2013 Draft Thread

Post#1 » by Icness » Sat Apr 20, 2013 12:20 am

I'll start this one as a repository for rumors, predictions, and then reaction during the draft. Don't be shy.

Draft on Thursday!!! Can't wait. I'll go ahead and predict that the Falcons stay where they are and take Margus Hunt with the 30th pick. Although I wouldn't be mad if we traded up

Saw a potential Bills/49ers trade proposal swapping #8 for 31, 34 and 74. I'm hoping Idzik is on the phone with the 49ers and offering the same with #9.

Is there a link for this?

As a Bills fan if Geno isn't there, I'd be very happy with that move. Then grab Nassib at 31 if he's Marrone's guy

Just watched Mike Mayocks NFL draft. Where NFL.com experts draft players for the first round. The knowledge of these experts borders on crap and a 3rd grader making picks. One guy took Geno Smith at #2. Other guys were completely clueless in their picks, and some of 'em were coaches. While one guy told Mayock, "can you help me pick one?" After the commercial, with mayock acting as commish, some guy said, thats the equivalent to getting up to the podium and asking commissioner goodell to make your picks for you. Totally ridiculous the low levels of knowledge these guys have.

Apologies Dr Positivity and everyone else for not posting the link but I have been unable to locate it again. Suffice to say it was a suggestion by a writer and not a rumor. The apparent target was suggested to be Austin at number eight. I'm guessing Cleveland at six would jump on that proposal but I'm guessing the 49ers would decline. As a Jet fan I think they need to trade down as much as possible and the 49ers would be an excellent match if willing.

My hunch is the 49ers don't move up that high. Maybe I'm wrong though, I do think they'll move into the teens if there is a player available that they really like.

Sounds like the top 5 is going to be:

1) OT Joekel (or Fisher)
2) OT Fisher (or Joekel)
3) DT Floyd
4) LB/DE Jordan
5) OT Johnson

Johnson over Ansah?

The only certainty is Cleveland doing something stupid, like trading up to grab a project player while giving up their chance at Clowney next season.

I think the buzz with this year's draft is how unpredictable it is. For the first time in a long time, there isn't really a clear cut superstar, or inherent bust (maybe besides Jarvis Jones) that makes this draft shine, and I kinda like it.

For all seven rounds, we're going to be hearing names called that we recognize from the college game because the talent pool is incredibly deep and the FBS and historically black schools will have a lot of guys getting called.

Yes but I think Ansah and not Floyd go at 3.

I think the first 3 picks will be tackles. Some team will trade with Oakland to leap over Philly for Lane Johnson.

I guess it's safe to say that word has leaked that the Chiefs are taking Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher at #1. Jacksonville is on the unofficial clock...

Beat reporters in Charlotte are hearing the Panthers really like the TE Eifert, a lot. Would be interesting to see if both he and Star L. and Richardson were there at #14, who they would take. Do not expect Tavon Austin to be there at #14.

I'm not going to lie, I really f*cking hate the draft being in prime time. It's such a shameless cash grab.

Why is EJ Manuel there? Does he actually think he'll be taken in the first round?

My best guess:

1. KC - Fisher
2. Jac - Joeckel
3. Oak - Hayden
4. Phi - Jordan
5. Det - Johnson
6. NYJ - Austin
7. Ari - Floyd
8. Buf - Warmack
9. Cle - Mingo
10. Ten - Milliner
