A smokescreen for what purpose? To make someone want to move ahead of them for Fournette? That seems unlikely. To keep someone from moving up to draft the guy they really want? Maybe, but there's really no consensus at the top, so if that is the plan it doesn't make a ton of sense.

Cammo,

What are the chances that the Browns don't take a QB in the first round? IF so, is it possible that Houston is the first team to draft a QB?

I could definitely see your first 2 picks for the Jaguars happening if somehow Njoku falls to the 2nd round. I don't think it's likely due to his very high upside, but stranger things have happened- like Myles Jack last year.

As a longtime (and long-suffering) Jaguars fan, my personal preference would be:

1. Jonathan Allen (slight edge over Fournette).
2. Dan Feeney or Dion Dawkins (must go offensive line and both these guys would fit).
3. Samaje Perine ( Foreman or Kareem Hunt would suffice here)

These 3 picks address the team's greatest needs which are pass rush, offensive line and running back. Although Allen may not be a double-digit sacks guy each season, he and Malik Jackson would open things up for their primary pass rushers (Ndokwe, Fowler and Campbell). I do have a hunch that Coughlin will select Fournette over Allen since the offense needs someone to help take the pressure off Bortles, but Allen is a safer pick who is also likely to have a longer career than L.F.

The tight end class is very deep so the Jaguars can draft someone in the 4th round who could be developed. Jake Butt may actually fall to this round due to his injury, but the Jaguars already have 3 guys they can go with (Koyack, Sterling, Rivera) in addition to Mercedes Lewis. It is possible one of those 3 "move" tight-ends can step up and become what they had hoped Julius Thomas would be.

The "elephant in the room" will continue to be Blake Bortles. He must significantly reduce his mental mistakes/turnovers or he won't be back after next season. I just don't see the team drafting someone in the 1st 3 rounds, with the possible exception of local favorite Nathan Peterman if he falls to round 3. Next year's crop of quarterbacks, lead by Sam Darnold, would be vastly superior and worth the wait rather than reaching for Watson, Trubisky, Mahomes or Kizer.

It is certainly possible Cleveland doesn't take a QB in the first round, especially if they believe they can get someone like Kizer at pick #33. If Trubiski is there at #12, they will take him.

Houston would need to move up to be the first team to take a QB. There are too many QB starved teams for the first one to come off the board at pick #25.

I'll call my shots/WA guesses on QB's here (at the risk of looking like an idiot in 2 weeks):
Trubisky at 12 to Cleveland
Mahomes at 25 to Houston
Watson at 27 to KC
Kizer at 34 to SF
Webb at 42 to NO

Glad to see you are off the Njoku pick to Tampa at 19, yes they would like a TE to pair with Brate, but as I was saying it's not necessary in first two rounds, bigger needs at RB & S.

Not bad on the Bucs picks though!

I didn't follow much NCAA this last year, but what happened to Dupre? I remember him being the cats meow recruit. You had him in the 1st back in your first mock. What happened to drop him the 7th?

Lack of production because of poor QB play at LSU and lack of top tier athleticism. IMO he should still have been a 3rd round or so pick and likely will play better than his draft slot in the NFL. I still like the kid a lot.
