So, Texas' massive list of potential candidates has been slimmed down quite a bit already.

Jimbo Fisher signed a massive extension with FSU. Art Briles has (reportedly) declined the job. Kevin Sumlin and David Shaw seem to be staying put.

Now they're turning their attention to Jim Mora. I still think Dabo Swinney will get a look, especially if Clemson impresses tonight in the Orange Bowl. Same goes for Mike Gundy.

And now Jim Mora is saying he's committed to UCLA.

Looks like Charlie Strong is the man for the Horns. Wouldn't be surprised if that changed and they went after Swinney after tonight's game tho.

Strongs an awesome hire. Florida was stupid not to can Muschamp this year and bring him back to Gainesville

Yeah, I still don't understand the logic of Florida for not getting rid of Muschamp, but that's a different story.

I like Charlie Strong, but I don't know if he's the right guy for Texas. Then again I would probably be saying that for anyone that they could of hired.

One of my favorite dfw sports personalities doesn't like the fit that much. Says Strongs an introvert and that job involves way more than coaching, lot of politicking and glad handing to do and he's not sure if Strong can or will want to deal with the extra bs that comes with that job

Mack was a master at that stuff

strong is a good coach but not sure if couple years in big east football is enough head coaching experience to handle texas. kinda funny texas got spurned by dozen coaches and ended up with not so sexy name, so much for the best job in america.

My thoughts exactly. Though I think Charlie Strong is still a better name than most.

I wonder if they put out feelers to more names than we know, or if they really wanted to make the hire quick. It seemed incredibly rushed.

I would have honestly held out for someone like James Franklin or Dabo Swinney, because Strong wasn't going anywhere.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/sto ... trong-hire

Mega-booster Red McCombs went on the radio to say that the hiring of Charlie Strong was a "kick in the face" and that Strong would make a, "great position coach, maybe a coordinator."

The article then went on to read, "He publicly lobbied last week for Texas to hire former NFL coach and ESPN analyst Jon Gruden."

This is quite hilarious.
