It's too bad we missed out on Byron Scott last summer. He seems like a good coach. I'm not sure how real coach brown's abilities really are since he had Lebron anchoring his offense and defense and it did look at times that he didn't call any plays except "throw the ball to lebron".

Lacob stresses stability and this organization needs stability. This next hire will be our third coach in three years!!! Before we hired Don Nelson we were hiring and firing coaches left and right, i really hope we're not in the same boat as that.

Sloan and Van Gundy both declined interviews with the Dubs!! Told everybody that Sloan wasn't coming here. What a fool Lacob is looking like..Trying to get a big name coach to come out here

He's the guy I would have really liked here. A proven winner. He was my #1. I would have loved to have him coach Randolph. Lakers give Ws permission to interview Shaw (guess he's still under contract).

Either one would have been an overhyped disaster anyways. I cant believe Lacob actually went after those guys... I'm getting a little disappointed in him re: roster moves. It seems like he's trying to appease internet fans by going after terrible fits like this.

The smart move is finding a capable offensive coach and trying to rehab value. Then again, the smartest move would have been to keep Nellie for last year, keep player's values at their peaks and then be looking to retool the roster. If we did that, and Curry had another solid year, but then again struggled under a defensive coach, its more likely that we could sell him for higher value than being under a defensive coach all last year. And possibly again this year.

I was actually getting really sick and tired of Nelson by the start of this season and small ball lineups, but for some reason it would feel like a smoother transition into another coach then firing nelson, hiring Smart, firing smart and now hiring a brand new coach. Already on the coaching carousel.

I'm not sure Smart improved any of our players or developed anything at all.

your an idiot. why not ask two of the best coaches out there if they'd like to coach your team? they said no and you just keep on moving on in the process. it's no big, doesn't make the warriors look bad at all. Sloan was pretty much retired and will stay retired. Jeff Van Gundy would have been a big name but not really sure if he still has that coach instincts in him, as he seems happy on tv ala jon gruden.

No harm and no shame in reaching for the big names, it's something cohen wouldn't have done.

I hope we are just using mike brown as leverage. he would be horrendous as a coach here.

I don't see the downside in at least reaching out to Sloan/JVG. It's not like we're hiring them, we're just asking them to interview. IDK how that makes Lacob "look like a fool."

Would either have been a good fit here? No. JVG would need a roster revamp as would Sloan. Without that each would have minimal success here.

Does that mean Casey is going to be coaching the Rockets next season?

Late to this thread, but what can Brown do for us (that Smart can't do)?

Brown can bring a dramatically better NBA win-loss record thanks to Lebron which Smart can't

Your the idiot for getting your hopes up and thinking Sloan could automatically turn these bunch of turfs into defensive players! We don't have enough cap space. And Sloan couldn't even make his last team that much better. Lacob definitely gets good grades for trying but let's be realistic here. It's not a desirable team to coach right now. Like I said Smart, Casey and Brown they're all in the same mold

There was absolutely no harm or foul asking Jerry Sloan and Jeff Van Gundy if either had any interest in coaching the Warriors next season. There is no reason to act as if getting a no thanks from Sloan and JVG was going to require the Warriors forfeit their lottery draft. My gut feeling is Joe Lacob with his Boston background will want Lawrence Franks for GSW now that Doc Rivers has signed a five year contract extension to continue as head coach of the Celtics.

I think Mike Brown will be the next coach. I don't think we we will get our C through FA. We might add 2 defensive players this yr.

Ironies abound. Smart coached the horrible pre-King Cavs. Scott coached the horrible post-King Cavs. Brown only coached the Cavs with LeBron. Can't see any reason to think that Brown would have made Smart's Cav team better, or that he would have made Scott's post LeBron team better, or that Smart or Scott would have been much worse than Brown with those LeBron Cavs teams. So whose the winning coach?
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

Can they just apologize to Smart and resign him? Have Riley say that he made a boo boo and that he's sorry

I know this can't happen, but we should have allowed Nelson for one more season (even though it was unbearable already) and let Smart in on this upcoming season since it may be a shortened season or not...i just feel the candidates aren't out there this year.

I like Laurence Frank, but i'm not sure he's even in the running. I like him because he's young, coached a good Nets team and has that playoff experience with them as well as the Celtics.

Where did you guys read about Jeff Van Gundy and Jerry Sloan refusing to interview? Also why in the world is Mike Brown the frontrunner? I don't get it. Why the hell do they like him? What exactly is his coaching philosophy anyways? Ugg only the Warriors can do this badly.
