Curry has sustained it because he's a great ball handler able to attack closeouts and can finish well with either hand.

Haven't seen that yet from Podz.

More likely instead of getting all the way to the rim, he's going to have to develop some runners and tear drops to diversify his shotmaking.

Otherwise if he can't remain a threat to attack closeouts and finish in the paint at a high percentage, he will lose a lot of effectiveness.

A player like Maxey has leveled up a lot because he has insane quickness and athleticism but that has led to him getting more space to hit 3s and he's hit them at a high level.

Podz can certainly beat big men off the dribble if he's able to get switched around the FT line and he can beat them downhill.

He's got to show that he can go either left or right and finish either way. He's also got to finish with some contact, like jump into defenders under the basket and take away the shot block or get defenders on his hip and stop to draw fouls.

Otherwise he might just be a good role player but nothing much more.

I was skeptical of Bronny but he's a bigger, stronger, more explosive athlete than Podz and Lebron has had him work on his shot so I can see teams drafting him higher than the 20s as some speculated. Of course he has to get above his health concerns.

Floaters were basically his go-to move at Santa Clara. As were all these unique finishes over and under players at the hoop. The floaters were way off in pre-season because he was adjusting to larger players, but he's got the finesse to get those back in his game as well.

So to me its not only sustainable, but will get even better finishing inside. No, he's not Maxey or Kyrie or Steph or Fox... you get the idea... but he's also not a Fred VanVleet or Dellavedova who hovers around 40% FG because they can't score inside at all.

It’s too hard to have a kickass nickname when your name makes your nickname

Suggestion no1.

"Blowfly"

Not exactly flattering at first glance but he is very persisstent and annoying to opposing players. Absolutely everywhere.

He just needs a good outside shot to be a podzilla.

Yay, good draft pick. The guy has basketball instincts. I was not expecting anything from Podz.

Accommodating pretty well to starters minutes - some lumps with the higher usage. I expect him to hit a wall when teams start actually scouting for him. Hopefully we don't start pulling the leash back on him then - but knowing Kerr that's exactly what we'll do.

Unless he levels up to be consistently the #2 scorer on this team, like score at least 17-18 PPG, I don't think teams are going to focus on him that much.

He's going to be at best #3 scoring option.

He does all the little things that you just want him out on the court. Impact player from day 1 because of it. We'll see next year if he can up his volume scoring and / or can be the full time back up pg. We really should be clearing the deck for him as he's getting as many minutes as he can handle already. We need to trade cp3.

Maybe... can't understate the value of having 2 of the 3 best point guards ever mentor him

Yea it's nice until we're force feeding closing minutes to cp3/curry/klay and we lose leads because of it.

Kind of crazy to say that a rookie should be closing games but I really feel like our best lineups to close games will be Curry/Podz/Moody/Wiggins/Dray. Not that I ever expect to see this lineup because Kerr, but maybe in a playoff situation where Kerr has no choice and is actually trying to win a game rather than appease people's egos.

Podz does all the little things Iggy would do that the team has missed for years. He doesn't have to score to make an impact on the game. I like his tenacity and fearlessness.

I think he's similar to DDV's season last year, though DDV shot more 3s and Podz looks to get into the paint.

Both very active on the glass, especially offensive boards.

So Warriors get similar performance on a rookie contract.

He doesn’t turn 21 until February so it’s not impossible that he gets a late growth spurt one of these summers.

Either that or maybe get him some growth hormones or something.

Playing very well now but with just a bit more length, he would be a potential all star.
