Toronto is talking about moving their pick. So is Charlotte.

Just saying. You never saw San Antonio said they wanted to move up and draft Leonard.

Actually, we did. I remember that SA was desperately looking for a mid 1st for Leonard. Sources said it, anyway

And I dont think rumors from sources should count, because I hear those constantly. I still think what we're doing is pretty unique and saavy if done right.

Yes I was gonna say there were rumors all over the place that the Spurs were trying to trade up. Some of the rumors even involved trading Tony Parker to do so. Wasn't there also rumors that Klay Thompson was one of their targets?

DLeagueAllStars wrote:If anyone is really worried about this, then you are tripping. This is just about standard procedure. Teams from 1-30 always talking about trading up, down or moving their pick for a player. You do realize in the FO everyday GMs, assistants and scouts are throwing names to other teams gauging what their players are worth, what other GMS think their players are worth.

This is no big deal and if you really thought the Warriors were going to take 4 drafted rookies into camp, you are dilussional

please tell when was the last time a team drafted and kept 3 rookies one year and added 4 more the next season? Please tell me. oh and your so called good teams, they also draft players who sit in Europe for about 3 seasons and some dont even come.. Way to use a smart draft pick there..

come on, have a clue about what really goes on in a front office

Roster

Curry
Jenkins
Thompson
Rush??
RJ
Dom ??
Wright
Lee
Tyler
Biedrins
Bogut

Thats 11 right there, so even if you did resign the guys we want, plus 4 picks, we would have no use for our MLE and adding any kind of veteran help. Seriously.. I wouldnt be surprised if we walk away with two picks, maybe one gets moved to next year and one is some euro guy and have room to use our MLE for a roster spot

That's !! WITH McGuire...who is a UFA...no Bird Rights so...if he's here,almost half the MLE is gone.
Depends on who we draft. If we go for a lot of frontcourt...we're less apt to re-up McGuire.
We CAN draft a player at 52, not sign him,but retain rights a little while.

Then again...trades are a possibility.

I have no problem with a lot of picks if we pick WELL and we then follow through. 30 + 35 +52 probably cost us more than $15 MILLION...so to then start saying...Oh....changed my mind...want an old 3rd string G. :dontknow: Anyone think there is ANY way GSW goes from winning under 40% to ..like a 4 seed..boom...right away? Seriously...not happening. No, you BUILD UP a BASE.

A GREAT way to build up a base is to DRAFT WELL and DEVELOP WELL. Right now, we got enough improvement on EACH of Thompson,Jenkins, Tyler to consider it as turning a profit on each.

Now...if you get FOUR guys, turn a profit on each...then you got WHAT? A good team with some shelf life and all nice on the budget. Then...a year later....you have ASSETS.

Now...just because it's Golden St...don't think just having ASSETS means you gotta go nuts trying to get rid of them. Assets can be good to keep and sometimes you can swap them and come out AHEAD.

The Spurs keep assets and the longer they keep them, the better it seems to work. The Pistons keep Players, but it is because they are NOT assets and short of a hit man, they ain't leaving.

Don't get players who ain't assets ,who you can't get rid of. Don't think that if you ain't payin a guy $15 mill...he's a scrub. Dumbest thing is to pay a guy $15 mill then figure out you could have done better for $5 million. That's like goin to a bar with a dozen buddies, ordering a round of beers for everyone and not only does it taste like the Ohio River...but they charged $25 per glass.

The Draft is the best tool to build a franchise, much as the classic skilsaw is the best tool to build a house. Damn...how is this not easy to see...it's like you get a shovel and a donkey, hike awhile and start diggin up gold nuggets. Only takes a few little nuggets and you made a profit.

Overpaying for over-rated stars? That's like buyin Faux Gold chains on shopping network and not knowin what Faux means. It means you got SCREWED....and not in a good way. In a Cell Block way. :o

Anyhow....I HOPE the Front office guys are not confused or fickle....or trying to copy the Isaiah knicks.

Just shut up already and go about your business. Stop talking to people who talk to Chad Ford. kthnksbye.

I agree they should shut up about some of this stuff, but it's no secret that they're not going to keep four rookies.

No problem with them speaking to the public. After, telling the fans and acknowledging them is a good move. They can talk all the want, but they don't need to follow it.

For the most part I think teams will make deals based on the benefits of those deals to them, they're not going to pass up a good deal because Lacob is blabbing... But they might pass it up because of fan backlash ("you want to trade Bogut for Monta!? Hell no!"), or avoid dealing with the Warriors because they worry about sensitive talks getting public (a lot of trades fall through, if you're another team do you want your player freaking out because you were going to trade him?).

But presumably Lacob also doesn't want an angry fanbase, and to get booed. And if he's always hyping these deals that then fall through, fans are naturally going to get annoyed with him and come to a belief that he's just a loser who can't accomplish what he sets out to accomplish. Presumably the team doesn't want that - they're going to need the faith of the fanbase... Because so far that's pretty much all they've had right?

If for all those lean years under Cohan the fans came out, I don't see anything that Lacob can do to stop this fanbase from coming to games outside of murdering someone. Now he's brought in some new Mangagment *high powered) and players and is giving us every indication that he's going to everything in his power to make this team better and y'all wanna give him sheet for it. :scratchhead: He even seems to care (unlike old management).

We need to work the hell out of the media. Jerry needs to go on TV and go on for hours about what a great prospect Perry Jones is, and how he's a future HOF. Hopefully that'll kick him up the draft boards to drop someone good for us.

I agree and it is a breath of fresh air from the past ownership.

My thing is, Lacob doesn't have basketball guys coming into his VC shop telling him how to do things there. He's a fan not a pro GM. We hired a bunch of people now let them work without the owner being the media's main source for Warriors trade rumors.

The Lacob apologists around here are incredible sometimes. I mean seriously when is the last time you heard Holt from the Spurs kicking around trade ideas? LOL

You hear Cuban talking up trades etc all the time.

Again, I have no problem with what Lacob and company are stating. I like it a lot better than the media leaks under Cohan, that were nothing but PR moves to think they were actually doing something.

I don't get why any of this matters. Lacob can run around naked down the Golden Gate yelling out trade ideas on a loudspeaker if he wants. As long as he delivers results. So far in the last 3 months we've gotten rid of Monta Ellis, picked up a franchise center, gave Stephen Curry ample time to recover, allowed our rookies to get valuable playing time, picked up an extremely valuable 7th pick and made plans for what might end up being the best arena in the NBA in one of the most popular cities in the world.

Not to mention firing an oft-hated general manager and consolidating 3 more picks in a relatively deep draft. In fact, I can't think of one wrong move he's made since the decision to avoid amnestying Biedrins, which was Riley's call anyway. Sure, he hasn't always made the perfectly available move (Curry for Rondo), but he hasn't made the wrong move.

If he wants to go on the radio and yap all day, I could care less.

Agreed. Things sure are going terrible right now. Your take is certainly reasonable and definitely isn't a desperate attempt to cling to a bad take.
