Reggie Jackson just got 5/80 from Pistons. Dray's and Klay's deals looking better and better all the time.

Even Corey Joseph gets 4/30 from Raps.

David West signs vet min with Spurs.. he wasn't kidding about that ring.

Fans love a name, so let'see where this vaults the Spurs and W's on the betting odds. I'm hoping the W's can fall to 8:1.. just like in football, winning free agency isn't a great indicator of success.

@ThompsonScribe: I've heard twice David West turned down more money from Warriors, who really could use a low-post scorer

He wanted a bigger role in the championship, can respect that. Here he's fighting Speights, Ezeli, and even Barnes for backup 4 minutes. We'd also run all over the place, and he's a plodder.

One of the more mind blowing signing to me. ...A guy giving up 10 million at the end of his career in hopes of winning a ring is remarkable. It doesn't happen often, but man is that crazy to me.

I like the Warriors as underdogs anyhow. Now Kerr can tall all the guys that the nba world is against them....so fun.

I wouldn't call him a low post scorer though

He's basically Mo Speights with more agility and passing skills, but less strength.

He shoots the same midrange jumpers that Mo gets.

Per 36 stats in the last season:
West: 14.5 pts, .471 FG %, 8.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists
Speights: 23.6 pts (yeah that's scary!), .492 FG%, 9.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists

West was better only in the assist stat.
Mo took more shots, but converted them at an higher FG%.
In addition to this Mo gets to the line more often (5.3 FTA per 36 vs 3.1) and shoots them better (.843 vs .739).

West is a better defender, but at 34 he's declining.

To sum it up, I'm glad we have Mo.

Free Agent Talk

This is kind of crazy talk, and is probably moot with our signing Barbosa using some of the mini-MLE (and having a full roster of 15 players)....

A part of me was intrigued by the thought of signing Josh Smith to the mini-MLE and having him come off the bench.... With the specific instruction that in any game where he shot 2 shots from beyond 15 feet, he'd be benched for the rest of the game.....

13. Kuzmic is not signed and McAdoo has 1/8 of his salary guaranteed, he's basically a camp invite.

What is Justin Holiday's status?

Someone was talking up Justin as a good wing defender free agent still available.

He was part of the rotation but no longer by the time the playoffs rolled around. Has Kerr soured on him permanently?

He didn't get a QO so I would think the team can't be that high on him.

Holiday is a numbers casualty. He would be nice to have around, but his shot for the Warriors was last season. I think he catches on with a team, who can afford to give him minutes to see if he an develop into a bench player. If not, he will be back into the D-League.

He started off strong at the start of the season and it seemed like was carving himself a nice little niche, but then came the ice cold shooting and the mistakes. The Warriors of old would welcome him, but this team has very little room for guy who struggles so much in so many areas.

David West signing for nothing to win a championship. Another irrational unfounded idea when cap space simply wouldn't work so why even consider it....

I think Mo is a guy that can be inspired and motivated to become a better version of himself. He's on the right team for that. There is no reason, IMO, that he couldn't become a dominate big "Microwave" type option.....He's changed the game a number of times.... I think he should be featured and get more consistant run next year.....He and Iggy as sixth man of the year types at their spots.

 That would be one of the most bizarre things I've seen. Has that happened before in recent NBA? Reneg on a decision late in the game?

Turkoglu committed to Portland, and then changed his mind to go to Toronto several years ago. But I don't think that was several days later (as in DJ's case), I think it was just a day later, so Portland was able to recover. That's what's devastating about this if DJ changes his mind - other viable options Dallas might have had have disappeared in the interceding days.

Probably would have gone after Brooks instead. And with the salary difference, could have picked up another quality FA. This really screws over the Mavs if it happens, and the same goes for those players who might have wanted to go to the Mavs instead of where they ended up. Just ugly all around.
