Now you are onto something.

If ever the starting 5 should be changed (and it shouldn't) the only possible reason you would change it is to make Barnes the "Stretch 4" that Kerr wants and which would benefit this team.

It would unclog the lanes and I'd actually put Lee in at the 4 off the bench when Bogut goes out. The lanes wouldn't be as clogged for a start. If Festus is healthy then we'd have the defender to make up for Lee's lack of defense.

Exactly they couldn't do it for every team but putting barnes at the 4 would allow them to add some athletiscm and shooting at the 4 while being able to find out if barnes is truly a bust. I think there is an even bigger advantage of lee coming off the bench. The bench really lacked a scorer last year and they really didn't address it in free agency. Livingston is not that guy. Neither is green, rush or barnes. Lee can be that guy. A staggered lineup of lee at center (sounds crazy but its worked well before), Green 4, Rush 3, thompson/curry 2, and livingston sounds pretty pretty decent defensively (klay) and offensively (steph). Its been said on these forums before that barnes is pf in a small forwards body. I think that really is true. Barnes is just a bit of a tweener. Playing alongside bogut can minimize the defensive struggles while enabling barnes the chance to thrive on the offensovw side of the court.

Every time this argument comes up, it doesn't hold much water with me given that Barnes didn't play substantially better in recent memory when he *did* start. Then we usually get to the, "Yeah, but that is because his confidence was shot!", and I don't buy it. The best player should start, and that just isn't Barnes at this point.

I love it with Draymond. I think it might mess up the offense but Green can probably hold his own on that end

Curry/Klay/Andre/Green/Bogut
Livingston/Rush/Barnes/Lee/Ezeli

Pending #FuLLSqUaD of course

That'd work even better. I'm just at the point where I want to find out if barnes is a bust once and for all. I feel like starting him at the 4 even in a small sample size will really confirm that.

The team is gonna try to win games...not do player evals. Things will play themselves out without tinkering with something that clearly worked incredibly well last season.

If Kerr does eff with it and change the most positive aspect of last season, which was the starting five, then he'll catch the wrath. I'm hoping he's as smart as he comes off.

Lee had the most minutes @ Forward but it was close:

Games Minutes
82 .....1795.8 .... Green
79 ...... 979.6 .... Speights
78 .... 2207.4 .... Barnes
69 .... 2290.8 .... Lee
63 .... 2041.2 .... Iguodala (F/SG)

Don't mind it if he's starting for Lee. Otherwise we need Iguodala with the starting unit. He wasn't great as the offensive initiator when running the second unit last year.

Absolutely not, wtf?

Starting for Lee? That's a great idea, let's break up the best starting 5 in the league, remove our only offensive threat in the post, and turn this into a pure jumpshooting team! Because...um...spacing!

If they are doing it for confidence? No. If they find better ways of using him, so that he helps the team more, or have corrected some issue from the Jackson years, and think that starting will make the team better overall, then great.

If it is the latter, however, I'm not sure how they would have figured that out, without any games yet.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

As months and years move on well coached opponents will do their best to take away what we do well, and what we did to beat them previously.

If we take care of our business right we add to our talents and stay a step ahead of their adjustments.

Bogut is better than lee when it comes to post up offense statistically. Yeah our starting lineups great but are bench lineup can't score worth crap. Lee could give us true go to option as a supersub. Start and sub him out early. I just think Lee is the most obvious candidate to play with the bench guys.

Since Draymond plays more PF than Barnes, only way I see HB starting is if Iggy gets hurt. Even then we should probably start Livingston and move Klay to SF.

Curry
Livingston
Thompson
Lee
Bogut

If Lee gets hurt Draymond should start at PF.

Curry
Thompson
Iguodala
Green
Bogut

Barnes should really be off the team before the end of the year. Cash in on whatever perceived potential he has left.

McBuckets would be great in this offense!! Myers getter done!

Lee, Barnes & Speights for Garnett and Teletovic.

Solid gold.
