New skills you'd like to see our players have next season
What ONE skils would you like to see specific players have or get better on for next season? Harrison Barnes is already working out as he's shown on his twitter or Instagram. But what specific skill would you like our players to add for 2015-2016? It's possible for a player to get better all aronud, but usually they really focus on 1 or 2 things during the off season imo.
So if I had to pick ONE skill for some player to improve on for next season:
Draymond Green - Catch and shooting. Yeah he is decent at it, but i'd love him to be the perfect 3 and D guy. Practice catch and shooting, catch and shooting, catch and shooting all summer.
Klay Thompson - Tough one because he's really expanded his offense this last season. I still want him to be a deadly 3point shooter and still keep attacking the hoop and getting better at posting up. If I had to pick ONE...shooting off the dribble.
Harrison Barnes - Tough one as well because I'd LOVE to see Barnes get better at shooting, posting up, and handles. For one skill i'll go with handles. I was thinking he can hold off on it since we still have Iggy & livingston, but if Barnes could bring up the ball now and then so Curry can come off picks it would give our offense more options.
Festus - Defensive awareness. I would love for him to expand his offense sometime, but if he can be a strong defensive anchor and not foul so much he can get more minutes.

Re: New skills you'd like to see our players have next season
Stephen Curry- lob throwing. Last season, especially early on, we had gobs of oop attempts mostly involving Bogut rolling uncontested to the rim and we missed dozens upon dozens of opportunities with poorly thrown lobs.
Klay Thompson- Ball handling. Just keep working on that handle. Its improved, can still be better.
Harrison Barnes- Aggressiveness/Rim attacking. When he is aggressive it is great. He needs to work on moves attacking the rim in traffic so he becomes more comfortable and thus he does it more often. he is too big, strong, athletic, explosive, ect to not be slashing like a mad man
Draymond Green- Agreed with the TS, just keep improving the catch and shoot 3 and he's good. He's gone from 20% to 33%... if he can get anywhere close to 40 I can't even begin to explain my hard on
Bogut- Keep working to find a suit of armor the league will OK to play with on the court
Festus- catching balls
JMM- add some bulk while maintaining his quickness- I see him as a small ball 5, not sure he has the skillset of a 4

New skills you'd like to see our players have next season
Curry - instigating and exaggerating contact (i.e. "Harden-ing")
Bogut - attacking the rim off the dribble. Need him to be a little more of an offensive threat.
Livingston - confidence in shooting the 3. (I ordinarily would say it's crazy to expect that, but he was working on it and looked good shooting it in practice at the end of the year.)
Barnes - shooting the 3 from the wing without hesitation. Just catch-and-shoot the damn thing! Also - when driving to the rim, force contact instead of throwing up come off-balance prayer.

Curry - shooting from the hash mark. why not?
Klay - shot selection, less heat checks
Barnes - basketball
Green - less gunshy on open 3s (playoff gripe, but w/e)
Bogut - if not being used in a screen, try and seal off the inside man more
Livingston - more consistency/aggression attacking rim
Barbosa - pronunciation of championship
Iguodala - take more shots, it'll be OK, I swear
Speights - make dunks.
Ezeli - those hands
Looney - ability to walk like a 20 y/o
Wallace - ability to accept a buyout
McAdoo - any credible jumper
Rush - flashier suits

Re: New skills you'd like to see our players have next season
Curry - take more 3 pointers, find your limit because you haven't reached it yet, which is insane.
Klay - work on your pick and roll ball handling and attacking out of it
Barnes - be a volume 3 point shooter or become an impact defender. Don't look like a traffic cone when guarding LBJ
Draymond - Can you be an above average 3 point shooter on wide open shots?
Bogut - be an offensive threat
Iguodala - free throws. you shouldn't be going 1-9 in a finals game, which is probably more mental than anything.
Livingston - if you could extend your range outside of 10 ft that'd be great
Ezeli - catch the ball defensive awareness
Speights - 3 ball and don't miss break away dunks in the finals. Jump with your hands straight up instead of flopping all over the place
Barbosa - extending your dribble, just because your feet touch the paint doesn't mean you have to jump and take a shot.
Looney - be defensively capable of guarding Kevin Love or Tristan Thompson, possibly even Zach Randolph
Rush - just find your game and settle in. Looks like the game is going to fast for him

Re: New skills you'd like to see our players have next season
I'd like to see Klay improve his consistency throughout the season. 2 seasons in a row he has started out like a superstar and faded drastically down the stretch. All he's gotta do is maintain the high level of play he's proven capable of, throughout the entire season.
Curry, just keep working on getting the turnovers down. A little less careless with the ball at times would be good.
Draymond, shooting.
Bogut, conditioning.
Speights, defense, protecting the rim.
Ezeli, hands.
Barnes, ball handling, and being an impact guy on defense (force turnovers).

The thing with Klay is that he takes a lot of tough shots. He doesn't really create separation while dribbling, like no stepbacks. For the most part it's straight line drives. He kind of just raises up over the defender and shoots over the top on pull ups or post ups, similar to Looney but much more advanced.
He had one move on the block that he was using for awhile to get separation but didn't really use it at all this season. So if there's one move to add to his repertoire it would be a step back. I think he came into the NBA as a shooter. Added a pull up, then a dribble drive game, this year a step back please or be a more proficient pick and roll player.

Green - Shooting. He also needs to improve his body control and decision making in the open court
Barnes - Handles, so he can attack the basket more frequently/aggressively.
Iguodala - Free Throws.

New skills you'd like to see our players have next season
Barnes: Handles definitely. He just doesn't have the ball skills to take advantage of his Athleticism and shooting ability. You can tell he has to think about what he is doing when dribbling, that really costs him. There's just no instinct off the bounce and because of that, he looks like he's do everything super slow.
Klay: Better one on one game. Yeah I know we are a passing team but right now Klay is really just a shooter who moonlights as a scorer. He's good but if he could up his sophistication level offensively, and diversify his scoring traits a bit, there's no reason why he can't be a 25-27 a night kinda guy.
Ezeli: Defensive IQ and improvement as a roll man. Most of us have high hopes for Ezeli this year, if he's going to make the jump...this is the year it's gonna happen. He needs to be a bit earlier on defense when contesting shots etc. Seems like he can be just a bit late on rotations and can't have as a big if a impact as a result. One other thing I'd add is his improvement as the roll man off the P/R. When he catches it in the lane a lot of times he doesn't seem to know what to do and the defense then swarms him. He's big enough and mobile enough to be an excellent Chandler style guy just seems like he needs to grind out the rough edges of his game.
Draymond: Learn how to finish with control and patience. Integrate a tear drop floater. I swear I almost lost it during the first few games of the finals. Every game Draymond would slip the pick and he'd have wide open lane with nobody on him, and instead of trying hit a leaner, or make a controlled drive, he'd instead just take it right into Mozgov's chest and throw up some wild ridiculous shot. He needs to learn how to play in control and work in the lane. He cost us those first few games because a lot of possessions ended with him in the lane, wide open. He squandered those opportunities. He needs to learn how to hit a midrange J, be consistent with his floater, and understand that he is not the biggest guy on the court and act accordingly.

Draymon - Decision making on offense. Generally makes more good plays than negative, but sometimes he'll do something out there that makes you go, "WTF was that, Dray?".
Klay - Keep improving that FT rate and become more of a play maker for your teammates.
Curry - More FT's. Less TO's. But we're picking nits, really.
Barnes - Keep adding to his offensive game. Dribble pull up left/right. Just perfecting his offensive game like he's doing with the Logo down in LA.
Bogut - Stay in shape. Practice your FT's. That's about as much hope I have for him improving at this point.

Did you not hear Draymond address the jumping into Mozgov and Tristan Thompson?
He stated that it was the plan to take it into the chest and try to get them into foul trouble. It was by design. Then he said he had to switch to trying to use the floater because he wasn't getting any calls.
Can't believe you missed that.

I'm surprised that more people didn't say that Dray needs to develop a teardrop shot from 5-8 feet out. With the way the Warriors spread the floor and use Dray on the p&r that shot is always going to be there for him...he could potentially boost his scoring average by 3-4 points next season if he mastered that shot. All comes down to confidence and patience on his behalf.

I feel like Klay should post people up on occasion again. I can't remember him doing it at all last year and while it shouldn't be a focal point I think there's nothing wrong with busting it out against small 2s every once in a while. I mean if you can get Klay down low against a Monta/Jet-sized dude it should be a positive play. Especially with Klay's seemingly improved passing and court awareness.
