They are human and Javale hasn't shown me in a Warriors uniform that he is Inspector Clouseau in the slightest. I don't care about how Shaq's comedy bit makes him look, I like the bit, but he goes out of his way to find something for McGee because that idea has become a thing. But he isn't a mistake a second, he hasn't stuck out one bit on this team in that regard. In time it will all be revealed on who should be playing what minutes etc.
I agree.
People are overblowing his mistakes.
He had one horrible game when he picked up 3-4 fouls in two minutes and also was called for a goaltend. That was his second time getting early minutes in a game. He had a DNP for the next game because of that, but ever since then Javale has been great.
McGee's mistakes have been at absolute minimum lately, mainly because he's starting to gel with the team.
I'd hate to compare our players because I like all of them, but seriously? Zaza drops like 3 clean passes a game, always falls down, misses easy layup opportunities, whereas Javale will catch any pass you throw at him and get an easy dunk or layup.
People don't see how Javale McGee alters so many shows in the paint as well.
Yeah, McGee can't be Shaq but that doesn't mean he's not helping this team.
This Warriors team is the perfect situation for McGee as he's surrounded with vets and offensive players who can simplify his role into a more defensive-oriented niche, perfect for a player with his size.
It's still early in the season, too. He's already making an impact, but once the Playoffs come around all the experience throughout the season alongside his new team will change him.
Let's see Zaza try and protect the paint against Griffin, Jordan, Gasol, Aldridge, Davis, etc. in the Playoffs; not to mention slashing drives from guys like Westbrook, Harden, Kawhi, Lillard, Conley, etc.
Players are out here scoring on Zaza at will and the only reason we look decent on defense is because Green and KD stepped up on interior defense to make up for Zaza's deficiencies. And hiding Zaza's lack of D will not last long in the Playoffs unless Zaza steps up himself or if McGee and Looney and others improve and get more minutes. We've heard "committee" several times from the broadcasts in correlation to this.
Yeah Zaza is a great passer but I'm willing to trade that in the starting 5 for more defense as we already have Curry, Klay, KD and Draymond to fuel the offense.
Start the game and set the tone on defense from tip off, please.
Get the early cushion, then bring Zaza in and mix him with defensive guys like Iggy, Livingston, staggered with Klay, KD or Draymond, and have him help move the ball around to get bench guys going and help out with his free throws.
Like I said, I'm not here overrating McGee like he's the next Shaq, but with Bogut and Ezeli gone, McGee is needed to make an impact on defense. I also hope Damian Jones can help out as the season progresses, too. Another bouncy defensive big.
