Most thirty year olds don't have exceptional judgment, let alone 18 year olds... It's a concept very few people properly grasp, no matter what their station is in life.

The timing of this is what makes Wall stupid and potentially could hurt his stock... an 18 y/o kid with the entire world in front of him making a dumb mistake like that... he hasn't even picked a college yet... he showed horrible judgement and it won't be glossed over. Maybe by casual fans on a board, but you really think teams won't bring this up in every interview he has? :roll:

It is pretentious to assume that an 18 year old kid hurt his professional future because of a mistake he made. It is pretentious to hold an 18 year old kid to a higher standard, just because of dollar signs. It's incredibly pretentious to do this when you have absolutely zero stake in the kids future.

Quotes like this make your 'high horse' quote legendary... is it incredibly pretentious to have an opinion different than yours, from a viewpoint different than yours? How dare I put myself in the position of the guys who'd actually be drafting this player.... I mean, this isn't a site where you come and give your opinion of what you would do if you were GM... this is REAL GM... only 30 people should post here.

So... you are saying that an 18 y/o with bad judgement could very well turn into a 30 y/o with the same? And that this incident will call attention to such bad judgement?

What I'm saying is the same thing I've been saying over and over and over again. People of all ages act poorly and make bad decisions all the time. Didn't Charles Barkely get arrested not too long ago? Isn't he well into his forties at this point? He should definitely know better, after having lived the life he has, and having enjoyed the opportunities he has. The great thing about being young is having the opportunity to learn from your mistakes and correct them before future acts and consequences become more severe. You speak as if it's appropriate to judge Wall and Barkely similarly, as if they are on an equal level. I disagree with that, vehemently.

I really don't know if I can make my stance any clearer than that.

Well jeezus christ, a real conversation. A lot better than just throwing out random accusations...

OF COURSE he can learn from this. The point is, its done and now its a red flag. No team is going to look at it and shrug now - not when upwards of 10m, and their jobs, are at stake. Does this guarantee that he won't be able to rise back to #1? No... but now every team that had him pegged at #1 in 2010 is at minimum second-guessing themselves. That's damaging your stock, like it or not.

You may hate the system and the way it is - but it is what it is - if your extremely talented, your moves get scrutinized. EVERY move. Jamarcus Russell said a team was following him around pre NFL Draft... The 9ers grilled Stafford about his parents divorce.. teams lied their way to see prospect's myspace and facebooks... ARod can't turn a corner w/o being hit w/an accusation. It's the real world and John Wall better figure it out quickly, or else he may do some damage that he won't recover from.

Nothing is wrong with Jeff Fried that I know of. I don't like a agent representing two players playing overlapping positions on the same team because the agent may think he can get a higher price for his players by threatening that both will leave or hold out.

Without going back through all the posts... has there been a consensus on who everyone is hoping to draft? I don't watch college ball so I'm not really up on the players outside of what I've read. I usually just watch the NCAA's and see who steps up... the real money players tend to do that. BUT... I wasn't able to watch much of the tournament so I don't even have a clue... as usual. (I'm just a fan of the game, not an expert on anything)

The only consensus so far has been that we should draft a guard to compliment Monta. Although, to be honest, not everyone here is agreed on that, so there really is no consensus.

Some people like Brandon Jennings, others like Tyreke Evans. There are some Ty Lawson supporters out there, and Jrue Holiday is gaining fans' attention. Of course, there are some around here that think we should go in a completely different direction.
