We can only hope that once the hoops start, Nellie will be so obsessed by his love for AR that he forgets to f :censored: up everything else.

Also, it makes it even clearer now why Randolph and the Don clashed heavily and Nellie nearly shipped him outta here. AR's full of brimstone and fire and I can just see Randolph's face when he learns his coach has basically given up on the season. Im suprised Nellie is still alive.

No player has been as important to this fanchise as AR is now. He grabbed Nellie's attention when the old man was despondent, adrift, disenchanted after Monta's screw up and ready to start burning things to the ground again. Nelie spent half the season lashing out, and throwing various tantrums in various directions. AR's courageous play at C woke him up and reminded him that his job is to coach great basketball, not to piss all over everything that isn't already great. Even Rowell caught on to Nellie's slipping grip and chastised him in the press for his loose lips on player personnel issues . . . then holds a meeting with team captain's in Nellie's absence? That speaks volumes. The future of this franchise depends on AR keeping Nellie engaged enough to not act out in self destructive ways unless Rowell has the balls to pull the plug before too much damage is done.

If Andris is mad about the season being over before it began, his beef is with Rowell and Monta, not Nellie.

It didn't sound like Andris was mad that the season was "over" it sounded like he was mad that while he and his teammates needed to nightly muster the resolve to go out and compete, the head coach came out and SAID that the season was over. Nellie made public pronouncements that their efforts would be meaningless. The difference is not at all subtle to any competitive spirit in a team setting.

Nellie has done several things throughout this second tenure that smack of distraction, emotional instability and increasing irrationality. Proclaiming Marco a superstar, torching Al, torching Crawford, telling AR to get traded, losing his :censored: with TK and publicly throwing in the towel on a newborn season . . . these ACTIONS have not been sound leadership behavior, irrespective of the quality of the underlying judgement. Nellie has not comported himself as a professional often enough for his aging and the damage of long term of alcohol abuse to be legitimately considered.

But we're supposed to pretend that every 70 year old alcohol abuser ages gracefully?

The defense has been "the player sucks so who cares how he behaves." Well that doesn't apply to him pissing off Dre. If he's losing Dre, he is f :censored: ing up. It's a gigantic red flag.

Nellie hasnt changed one bit ...He's been making the same season outlook declarations since the late 80's...And he's totally right for doing so.

When you lose, the worst in people is going to come out. Watch what happens when we start winning . Everything goes straight back to pre-Monta injury days.

Biedrins doesnt know jack squat about the game of basketball or the business of basketball...He thinks Nellie was an all-time great coach? Wrong..He thinks the warriors organization was loyal to him before this summer? Wrong (See JRich)..

Andris is a great kid and an excellent C..I like my Latvian a lot.

So why would that be any less true of a 70 year old alcohol abuser than anyone else?

Nellie's judgement has been rusty since he got here. He never would have blown the Marco call in the 80's. People's judgment does diminish over time, especially as they age into their 70's, especially coming back from hiatus and especially when they have lived hard.

How old was Red when he put together Bird, DJ, Parish and McHale?

I don't know, but Red was neither a toxic personality nor an alcoholic.

Suddenly he's Red Auerbach? More like Teftlon Don. A cloud of **** follows him for 20 years, but he's just everybody elses victim?

Red and Don are night and day.

So are the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors, especially to David Stern.

The Nelson storm-cloud has surfaced everywhere he's been except Milwuakee which was an eternity ago. But followers want to say he's only responsible for the wins and none of the 1000 losses or carnage that has followed. Must be nice to live in that world.

Red was not only a smarter than Nellie, he was a harder worker, a better person and more handsome. Red, K, Wooden and maybe Knight with a huge asterisk for being a :censored:.

Nellie is a carnie next to those guys.

Red could pull crap off like no other. That whole Mchale/Parish/Carroll draft day trade makes the recent Pau Gasol trade look fair.

Nobody has a better track record than Nellie at turning around down and out franchises (Dallas being his masterpiece)..I know the Johnny Come Lately crowd doesnt like the 29 win season and have completely turned on him. They know nothing..

Nellie has this team set up for the next 10 years..He could very well tear it all down too..But as far as building it up? He's the master.

Don's can turn a team around like no other, but cant go on with it. He's done well to turn us around because he's done it before, but now he needs to step aside because we now need more than a gimmick coach that has old age and alcoholic issues.

Thankyou Don for what you've done, but time to step aside, as usual. Hire JVG.

Maurice Cheeks ran a very successful uptempo team in Philly... I'd like him.

Nellie running the show on the floor is a disaster

Mo Cheeks seems like an empty suit. He's never done anything impressive in eight years as a coach and has been fired mid-season twice in the past five seasons.

Nellie has basically had one bad season after two impressive ones. He is a genius that maybe is too smart of his own good sometimes, as people don't know how to deal with it and it makes him look bad.

Its nearly impossible to think of a coach that would be better than Nellie. Not a whole lot out there to choose from, as many of the teams that have hired a new coach over the past year can tell you.
