Game# 15 Saints at Panthers

Post#1 » by ohara » Thu Dec 19, 2013 10:39 am

This is the monster game we have waited for that is finally here. 10-4 teams fighting for the division lead, and that will go to the final game next week to see who gets the Division, and a likely 1st round bye and hosting a Playoff game.. If Panthers win out, we are looking good. But you know Brees and company will be firing on all cylinders. They are not nearly as tough on the road as they are in the Dome, but still they are tough. Panthers have to be ready to play and bring their "A Game".

Saints starting a rookie at LT to play Hardy. Talk about trial by fire! Panthers NEED to pressure Brees to win this game. I think they will succeed.

Well that hurts. Panthers take opening drive into the red zone, and Cam gets a tipped ball picked off. Crap. Wasted opportunity. Not something we can afford vs the Saints.

Saints get a FG. Then recover an on side kick, Have a 1st and goal but Panthers force a FG. Now 6-0 game. Hardy has 2 sacks already facing the Rookie LT, and we have 4 for the half. Great job by the defense. Now the offense needs to get going.

Nope. 3 and out. LaFell dropped a pass that should have been caught. Smith is out with a knee strain it looks like. Starting DT for us is out also. Saints lose starting Safety Vaccarro to what appears to be a broken ankle.

Panthers get a 1st, but fail to get another after a drop by Olsen that would have been a big gainer. Cam sacked again. Saints defense is playing every bit a good as the Panthers. Just that the Panthers offense is doing absolutely zero. We have only 55 yards of offense in the 1st half. 3rd and 6 for the Saints at the 2 minute warning still on Saints half of the field.

Thomas Davis with a HUGE INT! Panthers start at the Saints 43. Must get points here. Williams takes it 43 yards for a TD. Panthers lead!

Panthers have sacked Brees 5 times in the first half. Most he has been sacked in a game all season and it is only the first half.

Saints faked a long FG and blew it. Panthers take the ball and get a FG. Panthers up 10-6. Saints defense has played well. Now the rain is pouring, so this may help the Panthers if Brees cannot pass. But still a lot of time to play.

Kuechley with an INT to start the Panthers in Saints territory. 16 tackes and an INT in less than 3 qtrs.

Panthers cannot move the ball and punt and Saints starting on their 2 yard line. Cam seems a bit gimpy which is bad for the Panthers. He has to be mobile as the Saints are bringing pressure as much as the Panthers. Panthers force a punt from inside the 10.

Illegal formation on Defense gives them a 1st. CRAP!!

Kuechley with another big stop. Panthers starting at their 35. Need to get a TD and extend the lead!

Cam not throwing well at all. Everything is too darn high! Might be time to pull him as he is gimpy and not playing well, Call it about an injury, but he might need to be pulled. Hurting his team with his play right now.

Punt pins the Saints at their 3! Another great punt. And I have to leave now. Will find the game on the radio and see what happens.

Wow! Just wow! Saints take a 13-10 lead halfway thru the 4th. Panthers punt with 2 minutes to play from deep in own territory rather than go for it. All Saints need is 1 first down as the Panthers had only 2 TO's remaining. Panthers hold and Cam finally gets going. 3/4 and hits Hixson for a TD with 30+ seconds remaining. Panthers win 17-13. They clinch a Playoff spot, and can clinch the Division with a win in Atlanta next week. Will not be easy. But if they win, they get a 1st round bye and host a game. Huge!
