I'm on the idea that he deserves a big contract.

The bad thing here is that we have a lot of FA on 2013 and 2014 (17 in total).

They have to save every $ that they can on Forte's contract.

Chewie wrote:Yeah, I know what you meant regarding the 2 years. Then we've got a PO'd Forte for 2 years throwing a hissy fit and who needs that distraction? Just saying that if we're going to get him signed it had to be for a longer term.

Let's just see what the terms are (if he DOES sign) and go from there.

Go Bears.

He didn't throw a hissy fit last year under similar (though not quite as contentious) conditions. But perhaps the Bears are banking on this as another reason not to be generous.

How did Matt Forte not throw a hissy fit last year? That's pretty much all he was doing.

Glad this whole drama is over. Bears can now hopefully get to work sans drama. (Meanwhile, Detroit is probably bailing out another one their players at this hour  )

ESPN's Adam Schefter called it a four-year deal with $8 million per season.

Like the length, hopefully the numbers per year change around a bit.

That's not too bad of a deal for the Bears, as it stands it's in line with the top backs but isn't some gross overpyament. The length is what is interesting. 4 years puts him at 30-31 which is the key.

sounds reasonable. likable guy, important cog in the offense. how does the deal compare to that of other RBs?
the donald, always unpopular, did worse in EVERY state in 2020. and by a greater margin in red states! 50 independently-run elections, none of them rigged

This is from another article.
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-o ... -year-deal

Earlier this offseason, we saw a number of contracts to big-name running backs. The Eagles gave LeSean McCoy a five-year deal worth a reported $45 million. Arian Foster also signed a five-year deal worth $43.5 million with the Texans this offseason. And Marshawn Lynch signed a four-year deal worth $31 million.

I wonder how much is guaranteed? Wasn't that the reason it took so long because of the guaranteed amount not being to Forte's liking.
