Sounds right.

Better than Marshawn Lynch (4yr/$31m, $18m guaranteed) who's a year younger but not as productive.

Much less than Adrian Peterson ($36m guaranteed)/Chris Johnson ($30m) money that he was originally aiming for. Ray Rice watching this eagerly, I imagine.

Thats the real question.

At least half, probably somewhere between 16 and 20.

I like the fact that its only a four year deal.

Well I like that even better.

Bottom line....Bears report to camp in 9 days.

First practice in 10.

Family Fest @ Soldier Field is on 8/3 so first resodding will be shortly before or after then.

BREAKING: #Bears RB @MattForte22 will receive over $18 million in guarantees, according to source close to the situation.

- Jensen

I'm fine with it. The next two tags would have given him about 16 million anyway. For only 4 years I can defiantly live with that. Good deal for both sides.

I like this deal more and more but the minute. Rice got 5/$40 million. The only downside I see to it is that it seems to be $8 million per year, rather than a more frontloaded contract. But Forte sacrificed a year on the deal and will get paid consistently throughout the run of the contract.

Everybody's happy.

The Bears couldnt front-load Forte's contract

We have 17 FA on the next two off-seasons.

It's great to hear that we have Forte locked up at a decent price for 4 years. It will certainly remove one of the major headaches that this team was facing.

On paper, this may be the best Bears team I've seen put together since I started watching them in around '89.

Why ? The only way if they pay him in the first year the major part of the contract.

In other case you are killing your cap space to the rest of the FA.

we have excuses our offensive line is unproven (giving them the benefit of the doubt) and our defense is aging. However I am excited for this team. Cant wait to see cutler/marshall redux.
