We are alright at CB right now and the draft situation is one that should allow us to wait til day 2 or 3 or til Undrafted FA to go for a rookie CB.

Ekpre-Olomu, Waynes, Peters, Darby, Williams and Shaw, Collins are all 1st round/early second round talents.

Ekpre-Olomu tore his ACL a week ago, Peters was kicked off his team half way through the season and Shaw was kicked off the team after the whole fake "saved my drowning nephew" story. Ekpre-Olomu will drop to somewhere in the round 2-4 range. Peters will drop to 3-7. Shaw will most likely be Undrafted but could go in round 6 or 7. We do not need to draft a CB in round 1 or 2.

I like him but idk if he's worthy of a top ten pick. I don't think any of the 4-3 linebackers in this draft are.

Shaq was playing all over the field (and dominating) like he was still playing high school football. That isn't suppose to happen in College, at least at a large program school. When it does happen you have to take notice.... this guy is a football player, a JJ Watt type.... Once Thompson gets the chance to perfect his craft at LB I believe he will be one of the best in the league.

If Shaq is avail at 10-13 I'd trade down for sure.

The problem I see with Shaq is that he's undersized (6-1, 228) and doesn't rack up a lot of tackles (70 or 78 this season). Kendricks is undersized too but at least he racks up tackles.

Benardrick McKinney is 6'5" 250 lbs and is just as fast and athletic as those guys but is also much stronger. He had over 100 tackles last year and over 60 tackles this year despite the coach going with a 6 or 7 LB rotation. McKinney only got about half the snaps because the coach was trying some weird new rotating LB system. McKinney makes all the calls and checks for the ENTIRE defense when he's on the field, not just for the front 7

Perryman, Ryan and Dawson are also excellent players who will be solid in the NFL and might even make pro bowls in the right system. But McKinney is the only one all the class 4-3 LBs with the freak athleticism and size, leadership, racks up tackles and forces turnovers.

Shaq didn't play defense in every game which is why his tackles aren't up there with some other full time linebackers.... however Shaq, in limited time on D, scored 4 defensive touchdowns this season.. playmaker!

McKinney is a stud too.

Shane Ray declared today. Would be hard to pass on him given the defensive end situation. I like Shaq Thompson in the event of a trade down. It is key to get a defensive center piece.

If the Bears hire a non-defensive guy (Toub) as HC, it will be interesting to see if he goes with a 3-4 like in KC or the Tampa 2. Thompson and/or McKinney would make a lot of sense in Tampa 2 as linebackers who can fly around. Then maybe you see if you can move some money around and make a run at JPP or Orakpo.

We need starters at pass rusher, MLB/ILB and safety, whether we stay in 4-3 or go to 3-4. I think we should trade down from 7 so we can have 3 picks in the first two rounds. The talent at those positions is there. We just have to play our cards right.

I've seen a few notable mock drafts predicting Shaq goes to Chicago! That excites me and scares me all at once. I'm praying the Bears draft him but now I'm afraid they won't because the mock drafts are always wrong.

How does Shaq fit into a 3-4 defense?

Return to Chicago Bears
