Would be a great guy to put next to white and Jeffery but having three injury prone guys wouldn't be the best idea.

Agreed. His inability to stay healthy (which slowed his production)is why the Giants released him.

Bill Polian is on mike and mike and he was mentioned something called the carryover rule. I wasn't paying close attention so I missed how it actually works but I heard him mention if some criteria is met you can get an extra 25 mil in cap. Anyone know what he's talking about?

There should be a podcast available for you to review that part of the show.

Under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, each NFL Club has the option to carry over unused cap space from the prior League Year. Below is the carryover amount from every team.

According to this site we have more than 8 mil in rollover cap which I assume is the same as carryover

AJ Bouye and Duron Harmon would make my offseason. Doubting any of the top safeties come here. Harmon has been impressive as a 3rd safety on the Pats with 12 PD and 7 INT's in 12 games. Fits the bill as a Pace "cap casualty" signing and won't break the bank. Bears went after Bouye when he was restricted and the Texans are expected to not franchise him so expect them to pursue hard.

And looking more like Jeffery is a goner. He wants a contract that would make Top 5 highest paid players in the league. Bears and him are off by about 10 million. I know the cap is always going up, but I'm not sold on Jeffery for 40 million guaranteed. I will say that it's looking like the Bears botched this attempt at playing chicken and should have just traded him(Especially if we end up getting nothing for him).

You make a good point about Harmon. I have the same idea about Logan's Ryan.

According bleacher report tony jefferson is expected to get offered at least 7 a year.

Jefferson only has two career interceptions. Pace said they want guys who force turnovers. He might not be on the list

Here are a few key to the Bears positional screenshots from PFF free agent list the numbers on the right are how many snaps the player played last season and the number on the left are the grades by PFF. Im sure there will be more added and Ill try and update this list every monday

When you look at the grade received and then factor in age and snap count Pace has his hands full . I used to see us spending big now I see us making serious passes at the bigtimers and and then basically signing some bargains who fangio really wants and waiting another year. I thought Ryan Clady was intriguing on that tackle list as I know hes played better than he did last year . Is he young enough to salvage ?

Can you show these lists from the past couple years since we can see the range pace usually pulls from?

@ heir_jordan22 - They have 2016 but prior to that they didnt list them the same so Im going to try and come up with something .

I was taking a look at some of the top free agents on the defensive side of the ball and it seems the Texans will not franchise A.J. Bouye if thats so he has to be pretty high on that list

I also checked on Safety Eric Berry and the Chiefs want to keep him and have said they will franchise him and negotiate a deal before the july 1st deadline . However they could be bluffing because apparently the Chiefs have 30 million in cap space and if they resign berry for 12-13 million it will leave them with 17-18 million . The problem is that resigning Berry brings their roster to 32 players meaning they will have 17-18 million to sign 21 players . That is a lotta bargain basement shopping for a supporting cast .

If we lose Alshon in FA would the bears get a high compensatory pick next draft?

Chiefs are expected to tag Berry and let Poe hit the market.

Go after Poe with everything you have Pace.

As for Alshon, I'd like him here, but if he leaves I'm not crying over it. I think it's overpaying for what he's asking for.

So basically they are planning on the starters being Meredith and White ? Looking at the free agent list so far they have no choice but to draft someone as insurance for White .

I dont get why its so hard to offer Alshon a generous incentive laden deal

Apparently the chiefs are set to cut Jamal Charles. I think he'd be a great addition.

1. He'd be on a very very friendly contract
2. His injury issue won't be a big deal because he'll be our backup to a top5 rusher.
3. He'll be a game breaker when ever he's in the game.

Obviously this is assuming no one is willing to risk signing him as a starter which there probably will be a team or two who have garbage RBs so it won't even matter

Berry resigned :-? so its on to the next on the list

Charles would be a interesting compliment to Howard and since we dont have any wideouts we might as well go run heavy LOL.

on the current available list are we chasing this week

TWO of Bouje, Johnson, and Gilmore at CB

Two of Jefferson ,Hyde,Mcdonald,Chruch, or Cyprien at Safety

One or Two of Whitworth,Reiff,or Wagner at Tackle

with no Alshon do we pay Pryor, Garcon, or jackson that 12 million we were willing to offer him ?
