No it was Chris Finch who was said to be the future coach and McHale was only going to be here 2-3 years

better yet, how about trading lin for millsap? houston fans don't seem to want lin around with harden running all point guard duties anyway..

houston benefits with a pf that can actually play once in a while, and utah benefits with a pg that can actually get all their big men involved. sorry mo williams?

phoenixx wrote:its the same problem as in the beginning of the season. lin and harden are both ball dominant, but lin has the comparative advantage in efficiency when he controls the ball to when he plays off the ball. Harden still has the absolute advantage in both areas, but comparative advantage is what creates an efficient system.

i watched a few games lately, and i don't understand why mchale is relegating lin to the corner. that role is better suited for douglas, parsons, or delfino. there was some ugly basketball being played in boston when parsons and delfino were trying to create. i don't get it..

I liked when Sampson was running the show.

Wasn't sure If I should make a new thread or not on Chris Finch so i'll just put it here.
Also had to defend McHale a lil cause, i don't where all this McHale "haters" come from, well I do looks like the Knicks board haha.

Anyway this isn't McHale's offense, last year McHale attacked a lot through the mid range/post with his 4's Scola/Patterson did well.

I suspect this is Finch's game plan and he implementing it this year and next in prep for Finch.

Finch apparently ran this style of offense when he won NBADL championship with RGV.

IIRC Finch also ran this style in the Olympics, he was head coach of Great Britain.
One post 4 perimeter players, uptempo & giving his players plenty of freedom.

I really don't like this style not for this team... they don't have the mental capacity for this style.

Well, Rockets have just lost 7 straight. Sound familiar? Last season, Rockets thought they would make playoff, and all of sudden went on a 7 game skid to end their season in lottery.

Might as well do this

Check the avatar.

Funny enough, I got this avatar when we were hovering around the 10th seed in the West in 07, right around the new year. Then literally a day or two after I started sporting this avatar....we rattled off 22 wins in a row. I didn't take it off, because I figured it was a good luck charm, but now it's fitting again.

I remember before the harden trade i said the roster talent was bottom 5 in the league.

Harden makes a difference but this team still lacked real talent. Mchale doesnt exactly have a lot to work with.

I think this team kind of overachieved a little in the beginning due to the excitement of the harden acquisition. Most of us expect this to be a transition rebuilding year. Our goal in the offseason was to rebuild not contend. We lost 4 of our top 5 scorer during the offseason.(lowry, lee, scola, drafic)

I'll give mchale another year.
