Injury update:

The Rockets’ injury report didn’t see any change for Monday’s practice.

Isaiah Canaan is still out with a sprained ankle. Kostas Papanikolaou is out with a knee sprain. Terrence Jones is out with a nerve issue.

Dwight Howard is doubtful with a sore knee and Francisco Garcia is questionable with a sore calf.

The Rockets will head to Golden State on Wednesday and Sacramento on Thursday before hosting Denver on Saturday.

lol I do it all the time, too. Article was worth a double post, anyway.

There are two things that it greatly disappoints me that pro athletes don't do:
1. Proper money management
2. Entrepreneurially forming their own league so as to internalize the profits instead of paying a bunch of billionaires to basically do nothing

FYI, I'm always happy to rant about financial management.

I was a bit confused though... is he really looking to play with Kobe or is he done? I guess maybe it was a a reach to Kobe??

But I agree on your two points, but I will say they are young and not used to money so point 1 doesn't surprise me. They could certainly use solid guidance. Point 2, however, is a very interesting thing and perhaps as these guys get more into ownership we'll see some power plays like that.

They did nearly start doing something over the last lockout. Problem is point 1 and guys run out of cash so quick they have no choice but to fold to the will of the League.

Rockets might think about resting some of their players like Pop does....maybe even Harden throughout the year to keep them fresh....maybe not even play Howard on b2b games.

For Rockets guard Troy Daniels, playing time has been limited and infrequent, but a greater surprise has been that his shooting touch has been nearly as sporadic.

Daniels has made just 25.6 percent of his 3-pointers. But with the Rockets short-handed and struggling, Rockets coach Kevin McHale called on Daniels on Thursday earlier than his usual role finishing games with outcomes already decided and was rewarded.

“Our guys played (Wednesday) night and they were tired,” McHale said. “I thought we’d throw Troy out there and see if he could hit a shot or two. It’s hard because we need another longer wing. With Troy, we need matchups that we’re comfortable with.”

Daniels did give McHale the two shots, both 3-pointers, that he wanted, but also hoped that it could trigger a turnaround with his shooting.

“It was big,” Daniels said. “Nobody wants to sit on the bench and just watch your teammates. At the end of the day, it’s part of being a young guy. I’ve been learning since I’ve been sitting over there, so it was a great opportunity for me to get out there and just do what I do.

“As a shooter, you’re going to miss a lot, you’re going to make a lot. You just have to forget about it and just shoot the next shot.”

McHale was the Wolves GM who drafted Brewer in 2007 (even ahead of Gator teammate Joakim Noah) so it's not too surprising
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Well he's only played in 6 games but 19 blocked shots in 84 minutes is pretty good. Plus he has hit 12 of his 15 free throw attempts so that's also promising for a Rocket big man.

The Houston Rockets have signed coach Kevin McHale to a three-year, fully guaranteed contract extension valued in excess of $12 million, sources told ESPN.com.
