only time will tell if this is a right pick
most of us were hoping for Jerian Grant or Tyus Jones
reason because we know Dekker won't get much playing time playing behind Ariza and possible Brewer

and Papa. and this probably means goodbye to KJ so we gave up Canaan for nothing.

Disagree about ball handling and shooting. But as a Rocket fan I hope you are right. If Dekker is even close to being Parsons I will be happy with the pick.

Well I don't think that's that high of a bar so....

You really are drunk.

Yea but sober now and know Parson is nothing special. He is a role player borderline star at best.

We'll see this season what Parsons really is now that he's away from Harden and Ellis.

I think Dekker will be nearly a Kawhi Leonard level steal.

This thread has me liking Dekker more and more - only caught his last few games in college - but nearly Kawhi-level steal is where you overreached, homie.

Not a bit of star potential. He is not better than Parsons. But he could be a better fit at the end of his rookie-scale.

I don't think this is a steal. But I am really satisfied w/ this pick as a Rockets fan.

That said, we still need more shooters.

The Mavs won by many clutch 3s.
The Heat was basically LeBron + Wade + 333333.
The Spurs won the title by surrounding shooters around Duncan and Parker.
The Warriors = threes.

Who is the guy shooting the best 3s for the Rox last season? Harden: 37.5% :noway:

What was the reason Kawhi slipped in the draft?

... and I said "nearly". Dekker isn't likely to be a lockdown defender like Leonard but will absolutely surprise on the upside offensively.

can't shoot 3 or bad workout i guess
he was projected to be in 11-15 and he got drafted in 15th
so i don't really think he slip in the draft
looking at 2011 draft result
and i see so many better players in 11-30 than 1-10
talk about tanking for lottery pick
don't make a difference if you don't know how to pick

I thought Kawhi should have been a top 10 pick (easily) and personally thought he slipped far.

In the case of Dekker, he's going to end up better than a bunch of guys drafted ahead of him. He's only gotten better and better and I've watched him grow since high school.

nbadraft had him at #9 in their mock draft and draftexpress (most accurate in mock draft) ...

this always make me cry :'(

I don't think we should get too attached to Dekker just yet. Remember we all thought Dontae Green was going to be a Rocket and were excited about him then he got traded for Artest. Never underestimate Morey's desire to get a star player.

Nebula, you've been pushing for Jerian Grant all year and he was taken right after Dekker. Hopefully that won't come back to bite us.

I had him over Jan, Bismack, Jimmer, Singleton and both Morris boys for sure. The only flaw I saw was his inconsistent shooting, which is similar to Sam. Obviously Kawhi is likely the long-term better defender, but I think Sam can be a starter in the NBA.

And yikes with Enes Kanter and Derrick Williams. Just goes to show you have to defend (a true 2-way player) if you want to be a top 10 pick.

too bad lot of GM think you can learn how to play defense
to me it is easier to learn how to shoot 3 pts than play defense
defense is instinct
you either have it or you don't
if you can shoot above 70% from the line
you can practice and shoot better from 3 pts line
GM just hope they can draft a superstar which they don't have to play defense

Leonard was actually picked to go high as 6th overall by many experts. 14 was on the low side

Leonard is a steal. Kobe is a steal. Dekker is NOT.
