UW Badger... imo a great pick and a steal. He'll definitely contribute to this team.

What do you think?

Rocket fans should be more excited about this pick but in due time.

Plus JJ is already here. Us Sconnies are taking over H Town. :D

Sam is really good and has only gotten better. Once his 3 ball starts going at a higher rate, this guy can be a monster. He can drive, he's not slow. He can bang and has touch around the rim.

He's better than Parsons imo and will fit in great here.

he has high BB IQ
when i watch NCAA tournament there aren't that many i go search for their name after watching them played
Dekker was one of the few
i was watching Wisconsin for Kaminsky but Dekker caught my eyes

How is he better than Parsons other than salary?

Parsons has a junk jumper - Sam does not. Sam is likely to become a more consistent shooter.
Sam is a better athlete, albeit not by much. Better lateral speed and should be a better defender.
Sam is likely to have a stronger post game.
Sam is a better ball handler.
Sam projects to be a better pro than Parsons.

Don't as Max not to be Max. It's not going to happen.

I don't think that the universe could handle that shift.

lol all the weakness about Dekker is he is inconsistent with his jumper
Parsons is better playmaker
Dekker is better slasher and better toughness
Parsons is more SF/SG and Dekker is more SF/PF

Disagree about ball handling and shooting. But as a Rocket fan I hope you are right. If Dekker is even close to being Parsons I will be happy with the pick.

im ok with it but not thrilled, mainly cuz we're in win now and cant wait 2 years for young players to breakout. if we weren't getting a backup pg then the next best choice was a backup sf. hearing a lot of things about dekker being a versatile player on offense and defense. i dont wanna keep brewer since he cant shoot or defend well, so sam is a good option. smart pick. if he can be as olid backup then thats perfect.

Sam does have an inconsistent jumper (evident by his FT shooting) but the form is 10x better than Parsons. Parsons' jumpshot is brokeback ugly whereas Sam just needs work with a shooting coach.

I disagree Parsons is a better playmaker since Sam's job was primarily finishing but he found his shooters all the time. Frank got open looks often from the drive and kick.

Agreed Sam is bigger which should allow him to be a better rebounder and post presence. He'll also be able to guard bigger players and has quicker feet than Parsons.

Getting Dekker at 18 is a steal.

Well I don't think that's that high of a bar so....

Always if he can shoot the three and defend I'll be happy but i know next to nothing about the college game and its players

Ofcourse like all players picked in his spot I hear lots of contradictory things. He can shoot no he really can't. Has handles no he doesn't but the one thing that people seem to agree apon is he is athletic
