Re: 2011/12 Draft Prospects
That doesn't seem out of the question. I don't think the Lions would take two players from the same position group with their first two picks though.
That 2nd round pick is going to be interesting for sure. Assuming the Lions get the #2 Wild Card that will get them the 21st pick in each round. #53 is right in the range for the second tier of corners and safeties, or the third tier of wideouts and defensive linemen if Mayhew opts to overload at positions of strength.

It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Re: 2011/12 Draft Prospects
I just don't see an interior OL in the first round. It's OT RD 1 or best LB/DB in Rd 1. Rd 2 will be best interior OL or best LB/DB. You can bank on those I think. Not saying that's what I would do but that's what I think the Lions will do. My choice would be to make lots of trades so that you can't recognize the team from the previous year. And that's a GOOD thing, because we need to get tremendously better and stop banging our heads against the wall by trying to cement the status quo which just doesn't hack it. This team still lacks intelligence all over the place as our #1 weakness, and until we can start figuring out proper strategies to get to the next level, we will always fail to be special.

i agree i do not see an OL in first rd.
Mock draft has Lions taking Virginia Tech RB David Wilson in first round, the lions want to build a scoring offense that you can not stop.i still see RB or WR we will see i know i'am the only one that thinks this way ,but it's going to be hard to pass on some player that cound slide down to the lions.Best may not come back from concussions he may have to retire.

Wht hasn't your crystal told you to stop going off mock drafts yet???
Our main WEAKNESS is our OL. Unless someone we can't possibly ignore drops to us this season, OL needs to be a focus in this draft. I will admit, MAYBE we don't take a lineman in round 1, but it needs to be a focus in this draft.

You don't draft on need you draft the best player available and if thats a WR or RB you take him.

Re: 2011/12 Draft Prospects
Running back in 1st round is the worst decision possible, even moreso than QB. And the RB they picked is completely undecided on declaring, won't even talk to his coaches or any potential agents about it until after their bowl game. And he's not a 1st round talent.
They have to consider Leshoure as their offseason RB for next year. It's like a bonus 2nd rounder. Take a speed guy late, they are everywhere and basically interchangeable.
Barkley heading back to USC probably pushes the OL slotting up a little, bad news for Lions.

All you people are very narrow minded only thinking about the OL for the lions 1st pick.
Can't wait to say i told you so when the lions go elsewhere because of best player left on board.

Sure they may go DB, maybe even LB. Nowhere else though

Does anyone listen to the lions at draft time they always say that they take the best available player reguardless of position of need.Which means it could be a WR or RB too
So all you people believing otherwise is just wishfull thinking , Listen to the messinger.

Seems to me that only one person in here is being narrow-minded.....I won't name names, but they want us to pick a WR or RB in the 1st round.

ICE, what does this mean? Confused. Have the Lions already tageted a RB who may or may not be in this draft? Can you please elaborate?

noooooo he is referring to a mock draft that had us taking a RB in the first. Ice is just saying that the RB hasn't declared and isn't a first rounder, i.e. is a bad mock selection

here's the story .
ESPN analyst Todd McShay released his first mock draft today. He has Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck going No. 1 overall (a no-brainer) and he has the Lions picking 25th (that means they make the playoffs) and taking Virginia Tech running back David Wilson.

David Wilson is currently third in the country with 1,595 yards,
there’s a good chance Wilson will be named the league’s offensive player of the year, and perhaps the overall player of the year as well.

All of that means nothing at the NFL level.

Piston Pete , Your saying 1,595 yard means nothing on your brain level. it does mean something in the NFL otherwise he would not be drafted . football 101 again .
