Matt Barkley keeps twinging my bust radar.

I think he benefited a lot from Tolzien syndrome, where because he had Kalil and Smith at the Tackles, he wasn't ever pressured.

Bump. Thought I'd have DB fill us in on his favorites. I like Donnel Lewis from Oklahoma quite a bit for our draft spot. Looks like we'll be anywhere from 25-32.

There are a handful of guys that I'd pounce on if they fell, which they probably won't.

Burfict is simply mean. He's got some headcase in him but I don't think there's a better front seven player in the draft.

Zach Brown probably doesn't fit as a 3-4 OLB but we play enough odd schemes that I'd take him. Unreal athlete.

It'd cost way too much but holy **** would Trent Richardson complete this offense.

There are a lot of OLB pass rushing specialists but most are underclassmen. Sean Porter has stepped in for Von Miller and been a force. Brandon Jenkins hasn't been the dominance he was last year but he could be worth it at the end of round one. Jarvis Jones is a redshirt sophomore that's been kicking ass in the SEC. I still like Courtney Upshaw, I just don't know if he can cover.

How about Bruce Irvin? We have a shot at him? If we say OLB pass rush is priority 1, I think he's the best I've seen this year.

Like I said in another thread, I rank our 'needs' (Though I'd still go with BPA in most situations) as:

1. OLB - We need to improve our pass rush.
2. DT - Green/Pickett are getting old. Neal is injury prone and Wynn/Wilson are both just okay players. We need a guy here who helps get this position younger and provide a little pass rush from the d-line.
3. S - Collins injury scares me.
4. CB - Woodson is getting old fast. If he moves to safety, then swap CB and S on this list.
5. G/C - I like our young tackle situation. I even like our guards. It would be nice to get some more depth in the interior of the line though.
6. Back-up QB - I think having a QB that can keep us playing decent if Rodger's goes down is very valuable.
7. RB - I like Starks as a guy who can get 60-70% of the carries. I think between Green or Saine one of the guys will turn out to be a solid back up. But if we can hit on a really explosive guy a little later in the draft, that would be nice.

I really hope we focus on defense during the draft. We desperately need it.

With the depth on the o-line we have developed, the rumors that Gurley is dominacing the PS, the depth at TE, etc. I just feel like the offense has very, very few needs.

what r the positions of need, from most important to least ?
*
in NO specific order
QB, need a 3rd stringer, moving Harrell to 2nd string next season
RB, maybe. grant gone. starks and green. maybe saine is better than whats available
WR. no. even if driver retires, wer still good. can find some undrafted guy
TE. if we sign finley, then no. even if we dont, we still have Gurley waiting and 2 guys ahead of him.
OL. yes. always need a good OLguy to protect arod
DL. yes. i think this is the most important need. maybe give up 2 picks to get the guy we want.
LB. yes. need to find another impact OLB
CB. yes. 1 day woodson will retire. gotta b ready for when that happens
S. yes. im afraid Nick Collins is done.

looks like we have alot of the same opinions
i think if we can get a top DL guy, he really helps out the secondary
he can put some pressure on the QB
and get some sacks
id even give up 2 draft picks, to move up, and get that player

someone post the top 10 DL guys in college

At OLB at #32, I like:

1. Whitney Mercilus, Illinois
2. Brandon Jenkins, FSU
3. Vinny Curry, Marshall
4. Bruce Irvin, WV

I like Courtney Upshaw a lot too, but I am betting he goes in the top 20 picks or so, decent trade-up option though.

Walt Cherepinsky has us taking Billy Winn @ #32. I'd be totally cool with that guy, beastly 5-tech from Boise State.

I've liked what I have seen from Brooks Reed in Houston, and if I'm not mistaken, Brooks Reed has at least 4 sacks so far. I certainly wouldn't mind him playing over zombo/walden right now.

He has more sacks than Clay Matthews.

Obviously that doesn't mean he's a better player. Just shows how poopy our pass rush has been.

I'd certainly take Reed over Sherrod at the moment. Better player at a bigger position of need.

Indeed sir. (shrugs) it'd be nice to have him on the squad.
