#121 - Carl Bradford, (I?)LB, ASU

Post#1 » by emunney » Sat May 10, 2014 5:49 pm

Played hybrid role, lined up at OLB, ILB and DE.

40 yd: 4.71
10 yd split: 1.66
Broad: 10'3"
Vert: 37.5"
3-cone: 7.25
20 yd shuttle: 4.3

Extremely productive true junior. This year: 19 TFL, 8.5 sacks. Last year: 20.5 TFL, 11.5 sacks. 3 FF each year, one INT each year, returned it for a TD this year. Kind of a maniac.

I love this pick. Mayock thinks he fits best inside in a 3-4.

Solid pick. Would think he has to move to inside line backer or maybe the elephant position

I'm all about guys that can get to the QB. Inside, outside, hybrid, whatever. I see him being in the mix at that elephant position and some inside blitzing out of sub packages. I'd love to see him fit in as a starter inside in the base to provide a blitzing option from the middle in the base.

Watching that video. It's impressive how many plays he's in the offensive backfield IMMEDIATELY. 1:03 mark in that video. :droop:

I like the pick as well. He kind of reminds me of Nick Barnett....dude fly's around and will stick ya. Reports seem to be split on his position but I would like to think he will be at ILB.

Cleans 400lb. That explains the vert.

Gutekunst says they're looking at him as an outside pass rusher.

Watching the cut ups on him, he really strikes the line with a lot of force. Leaves guys off balance and easy for him to shed and get upfield.

Seems like he could be a more versatile Neal while still providing the pass rush. I wonder if there's a chance where he beats out Neal. You can never have too many pass rushers, but they are a bit redundant.

Needs that explosion and speed to keep the OL off of him since he'll have issues with his short arms. I hope all the LBs learn all four positions this off-season. Would love to be able to plug and play anyone in there and give the green dot to Burnett until HaHa is ready for that job.

Does anyone know when he's scheduled to get hurt?

Loving the pick. Just get pass rushers and figure out how to get them on the field.

Shortly after being forced into the starting lineup due to other injuries.

I live in az and have watched him play a ton. I'm not sure if he's and ilb or olb but I have a feeling he could be a fan favorite. Dude plays super hard and aggressive. Was better than Sutton on that asu d last yr.

I'm waiting for you to give us a robust breakdown of all things Packers after you see them come out for warm-ups on family night.

OK, I'm going to go ahead and say this now. I'm going on the record:

Carl Bradford has eerily similar qualities as Clay Mathews. And, not just the fact he wore #52 and has a poster of Clay Mathews in his locker.

Bradford is 2" shorter but has 10 more lbs. on his frame. He has a slightly better vert and broad jump than Clay. Clay had better 3 cone and 20 yard shuttles. After a disappointing Combine 40, Bradford ran a 4.64 at his Pro Day. Clay ran a 4.62 at the combine. Bradford and Clay both benched 23 reps of 225.

I'm going out on a limb: We have found another dynamic pass-rusher. I think we've given Clay his counterpart...finally. Bradford differs from Perry in that he has several counter moves. Perry is essentially a bull-rusher and that is all. Bradford has roughly 4 go to moves and more explosiveness off his counters due to his insanely strong lower body. This is very very exciting.

And, the last thing I love about Bradford: His attitude and understanding.

When asked during his initial media press-conference post draft "What makes a good pass rusher?" He replied:

Studying and knowing your opponent. When you know their strengths and tendencies, you know what counter-moves you will need to succeed.

BAM. I honestly think we've finally found our second Clay. Holy hell.

OK bizarro you are getting me hopeful on this guy. Why wasn't he drafted higher? Why didn't another team see the possible potential and take a shot on him?

Just in case anyone was wondering how old he was. Did a little digging and found his birthday on twitter. Haven't seen it listed yet...
