I'm probably more excited about Lyerla than any of our other draft picks. If he plays to his ability and brings that nastiness that can be a tone setter for the entire offense. With his experience out of the backfield, maybe he pushes Kuhn out the door.

There's also still a chance Finley comes back.

Rodgers
Lacy/Starks/Franklin/Harris
Nelson/Cobb/Adams/Boykin/Abbrederis
Finley/Quarless/Lyerla/Other Rodgers

Have fun with that opposing D's.

My sister's family resides in the general Sandy Hook area. Her children attend school just down the way from Sandy Hook. I was there the day the Sandy Hook shootings occurred. i wasn't at Sandy Hook but, by proxy, we were in the general vicinity. There are many AND I mean many inconsistencies and improbabilities that occurred on that day. Questioning how the event itself happened and questioning how it was handled is a healthy exercise. The sad thing is in this country, the general public takes most things at face value - a corporate media delivers a message and it is accepted. See 9/11. See Iraq War. And on and on.

I'm not attempting to make any political statement whatsoever here. However, I am saying statements like "**** those people" are not constructive. They're actually prejudice and borderline xenophobic. There is no danger in viewing events differently. There is danger, however, in accepting truth outside of experience.

And, as far as Colt is concerned, questioning Sandy Hook is the least of my concerns. Ingesting illegal narcotics like cocaine, and then also advocating and speaking out for unfavorable views in the public eye...is just an immature decision. Those things are best discussed constructively amongst friends or in a controlled and professional environment.

Anywho, I wish him the best - in football and in life. Truly. I hope he finds stability to pair with his unbelievable talents and athletic traits!

Wat?

If you think the parents who lost kids at Sandy Hook are liars you are a POS. There is nothing prejudiced or borderline xenophobic (whatever that means) about it.

Healthy skepticism is great, but come on.

Xenophobia is typically understood as an irrational fear over something that is either strange or foreign. It is most often used, however, to describe peoples' views toward other peoples from different places - not necessarily ideas. And, I get where you and others are coming from. And, I believe neither your opinions nor the overstated opinions about parents are accurate. Again, either of you calling someone a POS - or the flip side, someone stating the parents are liars - are both entirely emotional POV's. None of it is based in experiential reality. This is my point. It limits healthy discourse because clearly neither side is capable of getting beyond their respective opinions - based in an emotional reaction to information believed to be true or resonant with already held beliefs.I was 5 miles from the actual scene that day. I actually experienced an intimacy with an extension of the actual event. That is what my opinions are based on.

Anyhow, I hope Colt is a total steal...

This, honestly, is my first exposure to Sandy Hook truthers. I didn't even know they were a thing until this.

What inconsistencies do you mean?

The Sandy Hook stuff can be discussed in the Current Affairs thread if you have the need to do so. Thx.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

The highlights make me excited about this guy but the fact that Chip Kelly didn't bring him to Philly and none of his Oregon team mates rushed out to say "He's a good kid" makes me worried he'll be a locker room nightmare.
Hopefully not. Being undrafted and then a tryout guy might have been the best thing for him. I have a feeling Packers will be leaving some real talent on the cutting room floor at the end if preseason again this year.

Honestly, I don't care that a 20 year old did coke or bought into a conspiracy theory. The thing that scares me more is him flaking out and missing practices or just quitting. He more than deserves a second chance though and he's young enough that maybe a lightbulb did go off and he realized, damn, this is my only shot at this. His history says otherwise, but people that young DO change, grow up, mature.

Those highlights.............I can totally envision him in an h-back role. We used to motion Finley into the backfield and line him up in front of the tailaback all the time. Lyerla is perfect for that with his hands, and bulldozing ability after the catch. He's almost a perfect safety valve in the flats. And that's before you factor in his ability has a traditional TE. I'm rooting for him as a person and as a Packer.

Lyerla could very easily become the best acquisition we've had this offseason. That's why I'm completely in favor of bringing him in. He has immense physical talent.

If he doesn't work out, no harm in cutting him. But I love taking a chance on someone like that.

There isn't any risk at all, it doesn't work out it doesn't work out. Who cares if he believes in some conspiracies? I watched some documentary on Netflix about alien-human hybrids, it's entertainment. What he believes or doesn't believe isn't relevant at all to me, are conspiracies worse than being a racist like Riley Cooper?

Lyerla could have "9/11 was inside job" tatted on his forehead and I wouldn't care if he can score touchdowns.

Yeah, not sure what the huge deal is. Signing a guy to a free agent contract after a tryout to get on the 90 man roster in May isn't all that risky or benevolent, whichever your view is. If he turns out to be a problem on the field or in the locker room, he won't make the team.

Does anyone remember if McGinn put up a big fuss about Jolly coming back?

Jolly wasn't the low point, but this new kid is? What about Koren Robinson? This guy is nuts.
