Strange draft, love the Clinton-Dix pick, BPA at our greatest position of need.

If Abbrederis can avoid concussions I think he will be a steal. The Adams pick could be a steal as well didn't really know much about him beyond that.

I like the Bradford pick and beyond that it is a whole lot of wait and see for me.

I cant wait to see who they sign. Hopefully they find a defensive player or two that will stick.

Round 1, Pick 21 : Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix, Safety, University of Alabama-Like Buccannon better. This guys seems a step slow on the field, not a playermaker and can't play in the box.
Round 2, Pick 53 : Davante Adams, Wide Receiver, Fresno State
LOVE IT-steal of the draft
Round 3, Pick 85 : Khyri Thornton, Defensive Tackle, Southern Mississippi
Seemed like a reach, but potential wise I like it.
Round 3, Pick 98 : Richard Rodgers, Tight End, California
Doesn't do anything for me
Round 4, Pick 121 : Carl Bradford, Outside Linebacker, Arizona State
I like if he plays ILB, will be an ace on special teams.
Round 5, Pick 161 : Corey Linsley, Center, Ohio State
He's a center.
Round 5, Pick 176 : Jared Abbrederis, Wide Receiver, Wisconsin
Everyone happy now?
Round 6, Pick 197 : Demetri Goodson, Cornerback, Baylor
Who knows
Round 7, Pick 236 : Jeff Janis, Wide Receiver, Saginaw Valley State
Really like the potential, maybe TE

1) HaHa Clinton Dix- A
Biggest no brainer pick of the first round. I like Pryors long term potential more but Ha has some tremendous upside himself, and is a plug and play starter and giant upgrade at our biggest need position. Bravo.

2) Davante Adams-B+
This could easily jump to an A. Revisionism given the depth of receivers and the fact that we drafted three knocked it down a bit for me. Rodgers loved it however, and he was ridiculously productive.

3) Khyri Thornton- B-
Teds Achilles heel seems to be drafting linemen. I question the fit, but I get the feeling our defense will not be anywhere near a traditional 3-4 this season. Creates havoc and we certainly need more of that.

3b) Richard Rodgers- D+
Unfortunately there was a huge run on tight ends, which I imagine left the war room scrambling. Basketball background but doesn't play particularly fast and is a sieve blocker. I think we already have a similar guy in Bostick. Can't see Rodgers contributing much this year.

4) Carl Bradford- A-
Dude is a straight up baller. As good a motor as we've seen since Kampman. Questionable fit, but again, I like the idea of just getting pass rushers and figuring it out later. I hope he sticks at ILB, as we haven't had a capable rush guy from that spot since Bishop.

5) Corey Lindsey- B+
Looks to be the exact type of center we love. Need position. Will at least be good depth, but won't surprise me if he wins the starters spot. Tretter is so green to the center position.

5b) Jared Abbrederis- A
Injuries will be the only thing to hold him back. Smart, fast, savvy, great return man. Getting him this late is crazy. I'm sure the injuries scared off teams (and maybe rightfully so), but if he stays healthy he'll contribute for a long time. Great story too. Can't imagine going from walking on and waiting for the scholarship at Wisconsin, to playing for the Packers. Must be on cloud nine right now.

6) Demetri Goodson- D
Seems like a practice squad guy at best this year. 25 year old, injury prone, green to football, and plays one of our deepest positions. Really feel like we wasted a pick on someone we could've signed. Hope I'm wrong.

7) Jeff Janis- C
I'm not upset with the pick, but seems like he has long odds at making the team. Athletic freak. This years Charles Johnson. Shocked to see us draft 3 receivers. I hope that doesn't have anything to do with potentially letting one of Cobb or Nelson go.

Overall, I'd give the draft a B+. I kinda wish we would've traded up into the 2nd again. A lot of players went from our need positions in that area. So pumped we got HaHa though, and potentially our starting center.

Round 1, Pick 21 : Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix, Safety, University of Alabama
Felt like a classic quality meets need pick. Was the last pick before what looked like a fairly steep fall off in the first round. Solid pick, hopefully he proves more instinctive in center field than Burnett.

Round 2, Pick 53 : Davante Adams, Wide Receiver, Fresno State
This is Ted Thompson in his comfort zone. Adams looks like the classic chicken or the egg project. Did he make Derek Carr, or did Derek Carr make him? After watching him play, I really felt like He did some really special things catching the ball. I think he will be the next in a long line of 2nd round Wide Receivers to become stars for the Packers.

Round 3, Pick 85 : Khyri Thornton, Defensive Tackle, Southern Mississippi
Relative unknown. I think he will probably become another CJ Wilson. Solid rotational player to space eat and spell our defensive line. I think he could have been drafted later, but Ted felt like this was the right place to make the pick.

Round 3, Pick 98 : Richard Rodgers, Tight End, California
Don't really like that he isn't a good blocker, and also isn't a hyper athletic tight end. Really felt like Ted tried to shoehorn a TE pick into the 3rd round when all of the 3rd round TE quality was off of the board.

Round 4, Pick 121 : Carl Bradford, Outside Linebacker, Arizona State
Steal of the draft. Natural blitzer and defensive player who plays with anger and energy. Hopefully he has the instincts to move to the middle of the linebacking group.

Round 5, Pick 161 : Corey Linsley, Center, Ohio State
Solid center pick. Anchored and called out blocking for one of the best offensive lines in college football. Strong mauler center that could help a lot in the running game.

Round 5, Pick 176 : Jared Abbrederis, Wide Receiver, Wisconsin
Another steal. Dropped because of his lack of elite speed, but proved over and over in Big Ten games that he was a great route runner and a savvy pass catcher. He is able to get the ball at its highest point and does not telegraph passes early with his hands.

Round 6, Pick 197 : Demetri Goodson, Cornerback, Baylor
The 2nd of 2 picks that I don't like. Injury prone, old, cornerback. I think that Ted turned to drafting super athletic players at the end of the draft. I would just prefer they didn't have a long history of being injured.

Round 7, Pick 236 : Jeff Janis, Wide Receiver, Saginaw Valley State
Classic late 7th round project pick. Ran a 4.3 flat in his first attempt at the combine. Dominated weak competition. Thompson was quoted as calling him the 2nd best wide receiver athlete in the draft. Maybe he can stretch the field, but he is more likely to be practice squad fodder.

Well I give Thompson credit that he will never leave Rodgers short on weapons. We could be more dangerous than ever on offense this year.

I guess I would probably grade the draft as a B. Big fan of the first two picks, the third round didn't excite me very much and I liked the remainder of the draft... the only other guy that confuses me a bit is the 25 year old. Sounds like a great athlete though.

I really dont get why Skov went undrafted. He was the best player on the field when they beat Oregon. I think he would be a great pickup for the Packers. That he has college experience in the 3-4 is a plus too, dont have to convert him or play him at a position hes not used to.

Return to Green Bay Packers
