So buying student section season tickets is still an absolute nightmare. Holy ****. Better than last season I guess.

Still a lottery, I guess. You pretty much go on the site at/just before 7:30 am and wait as it refreshes, usually about 30 minutes until you get in to buy tickets, if you get in.

Yeah, that's kinda what it originally was (technically not a lottery, just a terrible virtual waiting room). I was a super senior and I had a 95% chance to get tickets and lost the year they had the lottery.

Looks really athletic for his size.

Still really need the 2 in state kids.

Ehh, if it's a skill position player, I'd probably agree with you but he's an OL something that we're pretty good at developing.

So is Bredeson really willing to attend college somewhere far away like Stanford or Alabama?

"I don't want to go too far, but if something presents itself and that's the best opportunity, then I'll have to do it," he said.

Known for a power running game and having 14 offensive linemen drafted by the NFL during the 2000s, there's a culture around the Wisconsin program that seems conducive to success for players like Bredeson. He's taken notice.

"It's a big thing and it's a big attraction for them," he said. "I'm really interested in that."

Former head coach Gary Andersen didn't have any connections to that period, but new head coach Paul Chryst was the offensive coordinator from 2005-11 and worked with Outland Trophy winners Joe Thomas and Gabe Carimi. So far, Chryst and his staff are forming a strong relationship with Bredeson.

"I'm getting close with them," he said. "They're really into it -- I can tell they put a lot of work into it. They are very emotional towards Wisconsin. Most of them have played there or have been there before, so that's nice to see that they have a big interest in it."

No one factor stands out above the others, but the out-of-state schools will have to convince Bredeson that staying in Wisconsin and playing for the in-state offensive lineman factory isn't his best opportunity for future success.

It could be a significant task, as there are currently 19 predictions for Wisconsin in Bredeson's 247Sports Crystal Ball, making up 79 percent of the total projections.

I've figured this. If this staff can't keep elite in-state talent at uw, we have all sorts of problems. I'll really start worrying at that point.

Twirly, the pay sites are insinuating that it's down to Notre Dame and Michigan.

Maybe they're just trying to stir up some paywall hoopla but "he has 79% of the crystal ball on 247" is misleading. If 9 entries were in for the Badgers in 2014 and now 3 have come in for other teams in the past few weeks, where do you think the momentum is (making those exact numbers up, too lazy to look)?

Evan Flood predicted him to Michigan a week or two ago.

He gone.

His bro is playing baseball at Michigan...that would be my best guess as well.

Chryst et al have been a mini disaster thus far. Taking early commits from in-state 2-star kids is a sure fire way to compete for 10th in the Big 10.

I actually think they'll unearth some good players from those 2-star commits, but he's building a ceiling made of steel on the program if he's not willing to try to get anyone that is sought after by other big schools.

I'm sure a couple of these guys will be fine. The point is, these are guys that right-or-wrong BA and BB used to (successfully) slow play while waiting out Plan A's. They'd lock these kids up 2 days before signing day or on PWO offers.

Just the way it was. A UW PWO meant more than the directional dakota or michigan type offer. Chyst has jumped right to taking commitments from these kids, that really... no one else wanted.

Recruiting was my biggest concern in the hiring of Chryst, but losing one high profile in state recruit to a storied program like Michigan with a new high profile head coach from the NFL isn't what will worry me. I'd be much more bothered if Bredeson chose say Iowa or Minnesota instead of Wisconsin. Highly ranked recruits leave their state all of the time for a variety of reasons.

What will trouble me much more is overall weak recruiting classes in multiple recruiting cycles, especially if losing on the field also happens.

It's certainly the case that tons of say 2-3 star and even walk on recruits across the country end up out-performing 4-5 star recruits. In fact, it could be argued that the Wisconsin program has gotten more out of their recruiting class rankings over a long period of time than the vast majority of other programs in the country. That said, usually when you watch games involving the best programs each year playing for national titles, their rosters are full of a lot more 4-5 star recruits than good not great programs who manage to win quite a bit with significantly lesser amounts of top notch recruits.

Just saw on scout that last year's highest rated recruit, scat-back jordan Stevenson, apparently has until sunday to clear admissions and enroll. Not sure why this hasn't happened yet but probably not a good thing.

Our admissions is killing the football team.

Yeah, there were rumors of Stevenson being questionable when he signed on. Thought those were gone...well, there was some sort of thing where he'd go to juco but honor his LOI and stick with UW if he can't get in. We'll see.

Taking back a lot of what we were saying about Chryst. He got Van Lanen today, one that was in-state and expected/highly recruited as well as Craig Watts who had offers from most of the big boys down south. Nice day.
