I love Love but this has the potential to be a trainwreck.

So don't pay him and let him walk as a FA? Trade him and start looking for another QB? Makes sense.

Every major contract in sports has the potential to be a trainwreck

I dont know that gb gute pays top dollar. He takes care of his own players who perform and pays appropriately. Other than Rodgers last contract, it's hard to fault him for any.

It will be a big yearly number for Love but that's just the cost of doing business in the NFL. Length and structure will be interesting, big push for QBs to try and get guaranteed deals.

Ehhhh. He's gonna get something like 5 years 240/50 with probably 150 guarenteed.

Either it's gonna look like a damn good deal in two years or his season was an aberration and in 2 years they're looking to get out of it.

Is what it is. Not sure what the issue is. Young QB with promise is gonna get paid

Yep, $48M per year is about the right number.
And yes to who said this is depressing, sorry.

Maybe Gute does some magic gets some incentives built in with a lower cap number. Love’s latest contract structure is great. Gute had leverage though.

I don't think Love gets that much. He had a good second half of the season, but that's not enough to rob the bank for.

Daniel Jones got 40 per

Love is gonna get 45-48

Either you think Love is the future or you don't. Either you pay him that or you don't.

Sure you can ride out the year but if he balls out again your gonna be wishing you paid him "only" 48

Wouldn't surprise me if his next deal is a 3 year type extension, which would put him up for free agency at like 28-29 for another giant contract after the next wave of QBs like Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, etc. set the next new market. Or they just go all in for like a 10 year deal to lock him up for the next decade.

I don't think the Packers will let him go into next season on a one year deal. They could theoretically franchise him thereafter. But that isn't showing a lot of faith in your QB.

I think Rodgers and Love have the same agent. So at least there is a lot of history there working on tough deals.

Correct. He will have a huge extension the first week of May.

Thanks for sharing - immensely likeable interview once he worked through some first few minute possible jitters/dead pan athlete delivery/stock phrases. I'll always be a Rodgers guy, but I see how the transition, personality wise, could be so well received by the team.

Great interview. Jordan seems more comfortable with another player and opens up a bit more.
