Looking good...

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Mon Nov 5, 2012 12:30 am

Love how the season is going so far. Losing Cushing was a bummer, but the guys seem to be handling it as best as they can.

Really nervous about the team's run defense at times.

Facing that Chicago defense next week frightens me.

Win or lose it is a test that this team needs.

I can't help but think that so far this offense has kept a few cards close to the vest. Of course that is true for all teams, but I kind of get a "long term" plan for the offense this season which is why we seem to stick to our bread & butter so much.

And I can't help but think that Tate could have gone today, but was held out in anticipation for the Chicago game. Gonna be a grinder!

we need to use our 1-2 punch of Foster and Tate....let's not overuse Foster.

Yup - again why I think that Tate being held out last week was a calculated move.

I want to see what our TE spread does against the Bears D.

No Owen and they were still victorious!

The defense played extremely well last night. I expected the offense to struggle in those conditions and against such a good Bears defense, but it's nice to see our defense really show up and out-Bear the Bears.

Great win! Let's hope they carry over to next week against a terrible Jaguars team and not have a let down. I think they will be ready though.

Side note, but can we please get ANYTHING out of our return game...please? I'm actually starting to miss Jacoby now.

Dobbins is doing a fine job since Cushing was lost....we're such a deep team...we do have to be careful though, Indy, Ravens, and Pats are still close on our tail.

Seeing the Texans #1 in most power rankings now.

Jags are #32.

Got to be careful with this game.

I'm anticipating a low-load work week for the big guns, but that can only happen if the overall team puts the cats down early.

It's a difficult stretch they're going into now. Obviously this game against the Jaguars is one they should win, but that always makes me nervous.

After that, they have a very short week to prepare for the Lions in Detroit on Thanksgiving, and then on the road again for the next two weeks against the Titans and the Patriots.

So, I think I have recovered from the heart attack the Texans decided to give me yesterday. Almost.

As much fun as it would be to discuss the good(Andre still kicking ass, finally getting some good kick returns, the team never giving up and getting the win despite the adversity), the bad(not putting them away much sooner and easier), and the ugly(the defense through the first three and a half quarters), I'm much more excited about Thursday!

Finally a Thanksgiving game in Detroit I have a reason to watch!

I didn't want to start a new game thread for this final game, since not many people read these forums anyways, but I was reading some of the quotes from the team this week and thought it would be worth discussing a bit.

http://www.houstontexans.com/news/artic ... ae39f7c8e2

Andre: “It’s no secret; we need to win the game Sunday,” Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson said after Wednesday’s practice. “It’s something we’ve been talking about since last week. None of that’s changed. We need to win the game.”

Watt: “If you think about it, we win this game, we get a first-round bye, so you can essentially ‘win’ a playoff game if we win this week,” defensive end J.J. Watt said. “We’re very focused. We played bad (on Sunday), and we want to come out and rectify that.”

Brown: “The disappointment around here is at an all-time high following that game,” Brown said. “But at this point, it’s behind us and we’re moving on and locked in with a sense of urgency and a focus like I’ve never seen.

“(It’s) definitely a playoff atmosphere. We’re treating it that way. It’s either win and have home-field advantage and a first-round bye or lose and (possibly) be playing first round of the playoffs. It’s a lot at stake here for us, and we’re definitely approaching it like a playoff game.”

Schaub: “This is a team that is in the playoff themselves and we’re in their building,” Schaub said. “(With) all that we can gain from playing well and getting a win on the road, it’s definitely a playoff-type game.

“It’s right there in front of us. The most important thing for us is to play better football as a team, especially as an offense. What better way to do that than to go on the road against a team that we know real well? They know us real well and play well in their building. We’re looking forward to that.”

So, they are saying the right things...but will they execute when it matters? I guess we will find out on Sunday.

Go Texans!

So much for them deciding to be anything but mediocre. Again.

One and done in the playoffs?

Can you see this team beating anyone?

So depressing. But on a positive note: now that they have completely snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and have let what should have been a sure thing slide they finally stake their claim as a true Houston sports franchise!!!
