Franchise QB scenario for the Texans.

Post#1 » by letsgorockets » Mon Sep 30, 2013 8:44 pm

It's pretty obvious to me that Matt Shaub is the Texans weak link as far as I have seen for the better part of two seasons now. But the question always seems to be if not Shaub than who? Like many Texans fans I'm not ready to turn the franchise over to Yates, so I started considering what better QBs might be available. Enter Ben Roethlisberger. I know it might sound crazy right now but lets assume the steelers season keeps goin south as it has, might Roethlisberger be looking for a change of scenery? And if he wants out it shouldn't cost too much to nab him given his age and injury history. I think he had a good couple seasons left and he's exactly what we need. He's not afraid of the big moment and he can extend plays in a way that Shaub never could. I know it's sounds crazy but he's the only franchise level QB I can think of in a terrible situation that may become available for the right price. Thoughts?

Rather go with Manziel than Roethlisberger. A rookie contract allows the team to keep Tate and spend elsewhere.

Oh dear God - let's not start the Johnny Football talk. I don't want a repeat of the VY hysteria in Houston.

I just want something to happen at this point, Sunday night was a living nightmare. I'll take Yates at this point. Schaub is just a broken man now, and honestly if Yates can be competent game manager like Schaub once was we can still make the playoffs.

Schaub has been Lidge'd, in my opinion. If he is going to continue to be the stater for Houston then something needs to happen. Maybe he does need to be benched in favor of Yates or Keenum for a game to try to shock him out of this funk.

Manziel is becoming destined to be a Texan!

They will likely be in a spot to have a choice of Jake Matthews or Clowney and a QB. Good spot to be in this draft. It is QB deep so you can get one later. But idea of Clowney and Watt the line just might be hard to pass up. Jake is also suppose to be the real deal. Games are won in the trenches so Clowney or Matthews I don't care. Now I think the texans win one more game but they can just as easy lose 14 in a row for one of the 2 top picks

i'll go with jake, but clowney is fine. They can then draft a cornerback if possible...after that, they can get a QB.

I don't get the love for him, either. He doesn't strike me as the most mature player, which is precisely what you need at that position.

Does he have it in him to inspire the loyalty of a roster of professional players?

They need to take BPA. God knows we need help all over the place.

Texans can now look at top 5 QBs instead of Manziel. They better pick a QB.

Me I think BSPN over blew the Manziel summer thing. They had little other news so they ran that 24/7. My only problem is that he is small in every which way. Small in size and small in build but the guy has loads of talent and a big arm. The right QB coach an doc can make him amazing.

Another loss, Jags win, now the Falcons need to win so we can have the worst record in the NFL.

Come on Falcons!

Now the #1 pick is almost guaranteed right? @Colts and vs Broncos are hardly winnable games.

I hear Bridgewater being the consensus #1 but I just don"t see it with him. Houston could do well to trade down and get 2 first round picks.

I'm wavering between trade-down or Clowney.

Whomever the Texans select as the next head coach will likely have some input on this one.

Oh, and of course: Just Say "No" to Johnny Football.

(unless he's there in the third or fourth - I'd be OK with the risk there)
