Case named starter for Week 7

Case Keenum will start for the Texans on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Texans coach Gary Kubiak announced his decision after ruling out Matt Schaub, who is recovering from an ankle and foot injury.
"We're struggling and we're looking for a spark," Kubiak said, adding that Keenum deserves the chance

I think this a great idea. The season is over and this is not a Superbowl team, so just throw it away. Superbowl or bust right that is all i heard from the Texans camp all offseason. Starting QB is not the only problem.

Now step two is to rip the play calling duties from Kub but that can wait until the offseason. Hopefully he is gone along with the rest of the coaching staff. Do not want Wade on the staff because if he is he will be the head coach if he stays and he is every bit as bad a head coach as Kub in that department.

Good for him...he will be put to the fire right away against that stingy KC defense, but hey, better late than never.

It's good to see they realize Yates is as bad as Schaub and not worth bothering with. May as well see what Case can do.

Keenum better be the starter next week even if Schaub is healthy...valiant effort by the Texans though their offensive line was miserable in the 4th qt.

Tough loss but I also like the effort Keenum brought. Lots of casualties from the game, however.

I agree.

We have our Bye Week next week, so I am concerned that Kubiak will go back to Schaub. Not too concerned, tho - McNair had a lot of positive things to say about Keenum after the game. I have a feeling that McNair may have put a little mandate in place here.

Kubiak and Schaub are going down together.

I think what the national media doesn't get is most Texans fans have seen this coming for a long time and yet it took a complete breakdown to make a change.

The last time Mr. McNair made a mandate we ended up with Ed Reed. Did you watch that play where Reed got fooled by the 12th man? By the 12th man I mean someone that was not even there on a busted play that allowed Alex Smith to run it in for a TD.

Anyways Case did better than I thought but let’s see what happens from here on out. Kubs even opened the playbook which is a huge indictment on Schaub and Kub trying to keep his job. I do not want Kub to be fired until the season is over because I do not want the team to be stuck with Wade as the head coach. I really liking the Colts OC and see him getting a head gig real soon.

I agree about not wanting him to be fired before the season ends because I definitely do not want Wade as the head coach either. The thing I worry about though is if Case continues to play well, McNair might use that and the injuries excuse to give Kubiak another chance and we'll be stuck with him again next season.

"I’ve got to sit down and look at our situation and what’s going on right now,” Kubiak said. “Obviously, Matt’s our starting quarterback. Case (Keenum) played this week because Matt wasn’t healthy. Case went in and played extremely well.

“I’m going to sit down — we’re on a bye week – (and) I’m going to evaluate where we’re at as a team and move forward from there. So I’m going to do that everywhere, not just at the quarterback position. I’ll do that at every place.”

Well whatever as long as he loses his job I will happy with whoever they choose to start at QB. Right now I think this is a 6 win team and you can't keep a head coach when what was believed to be a Super Bowl team only wins 6 games. Heads have to roll.

Even if the team finished the season with a losing record I doubt that Kubiak would be let go by the team. At most he'll be directed to hire an offensive coordinator.

Kubiak earlier in the week said the door is still open for Schaub to return and play....unbelievable

This morning on 790 they were listing players who have more career touchdowns than Andre Johnson. It was very depressing.

I'd like to see Keenum - who has a stronger arm - try to get those numbers up.

Andre Johnson has never been a touchdown machine but the fact that he has 0 for the season is depressing.

The idea of going back to Schaub is.. frustrating. Granted, they could rally and put together a run, but I very much doubt it with the injuries.

If Kubiak doesn't start Keenam after the bye, I'm officially done with this team. There is almost no reason to watch as it is now and Schaub is dead to me. I really cannot stand the sight of that man and Kubiak is a close second at the moment. Give the fans some hope for the future and let us see what we have in Keenam. Maybe it's nothing, but we deserve, no demand to see it for ourselves. We all know Schaub isn't going to take us anywhere. Even if he were to magically turn his season around, he would choke in the next big game because that is what he has shown to do when the pressure is on. He is an immobile Tony Romo.

They announced that Case is the starting QB going forward now.
