another thing rick is thinking about is that with the lockdown situation the undrafted free agency might be a wild mess so by loading up on late picks they can just select the players they like instead of having to bid for them

Probably could use 2 defensive linemen and one more offensive lineman in the next couple rounds, then start focusing on BPA. I wouldn’t mind taking a flyer on Framm or Eason at QB.

trading down more in the right spots and we could have enough picks to draft someone for every position!

i'm thinking we still need some guards, maybe tackles on the o-line

some safety depth and maybe another corner for good luck. probably more d-line depth too

heck maybe even a flyer on a qb or rb if they want, we're still drowning in picks

always like the iowa guys getting draft and we got the qb

i don't expect a lot from stanley, he'll need some work but maybe he could be a solid backup

finally took a guard but he's from d3

would have liked to get one earlier, still don't like our guard situation. any free agents left? well we probably don't have any money anyway - especially with having to sign like 50 draft picks

what does everyone think about the class overall?

we had a lot of needs but so many picks that we pretty much addressed all the needs. the first two days were really solid and here's hoping a few of these picks on day three hit

After the first round, I was expecting Rick to consolidate some picks into either another 2nd or 3rd rounder. there were quite a few bargains mid/late in the 2nd round & early/mid 3rd round.

this team still has a ton of holes.

Something is amiss.

15 players and no TE or RB. The world just isn't what it used to be.

Well that depends on how well they drafted, considering they drafted players at pretty much every position.

They didn't draft every position. In fact, no Kickers! No RBs! No TE! It's really quite amazing how they appear to have gone after the meat of the roster weaknesses this time around with multiple players in some categories which has always been what is needed.

In contrast with prior years where they would draft a single player at a position or two and imbue some kind of claim that these were new players that would be the next coming solution. After those picks they would just toss the rest into the wind. It really kind of seems different, even beyond the overwhelming number of picks brought in. Year after year after year of spending picks on RB and TE and Special Teams when it was never a need, just tossing picks to the wind.

You are right in that it still depends on how well they drafted. But for once maybe they gave themselves more chances to get a few more right. Still didn't make Oline enough of a focus, but that's always been a Rick thing. Maybe one thing that will never change.

Treadwell busts for 5 years while two low drafted or undrafted WRs go beast for Vikings for years.
Let Adrian walk, drafted Cook with Vikings first pick of draft #41.
Traded Diggs, drafted Jefferson first frp

Right back to the Spielman cycle. You would think the Diggs/Thielen surprise would have taught him something else was possible. Guess not. Big hopes Jefferson is worth something. Maybe in Rick's 30th season with the Vikings he will learn how to improve his roster with FRPs instead of going sideways or down.

This just in though, one of the two FRPs they have, one of these they received for Diggs, is thrown away in trade to the 49ers. Because hey, 12 just isn't enough to be able to worm all around the draft and get exactly who you earmarked on your bigboard, exactly where you projected them, and for no better reason than that. Might as well get more and claim genius.

Jedzz your negativity is like the sun rising in the east. We traded back 6 spots got two extra picks and took the same player we would have taken at 25. Great move.
