We put all the chips in the middle to get 3 great talents in the 1st. Not happy we have to wait until the 4th to get our LB but whatever. Floyd, Rhodes, and Patterson will all come in and help us tremendously.

I like it.We still will have a normal sized draft class, it's just incredibly top heavy. I also like all 3 players.

hermes wrote:final draft order is finalized, our picks are:

1st- 23, 25
2nd- 52
3rd- 83
4th- 102, 120
5th- 155
6th- 189
7th- 213, 214, 229

11 picks total

so we traded 52, 83, one of the 4ths and one of the 7ths

4th, 5th, 6th, and 2 7ths left
and 3 big needs off the list

pretty good i'd say - 3 firsts probably better than one in each of the first 3 rounds right?

I say we go all in and trade up to get a LB in the 2nd round. Really don't want to wait until the 4th.

Loved the picks at 23 and 25. I don't hate the Patterson pick, but he worries me a bit. Maybe they can use that future pick from the Harvin trade to move up into the 2nd or 3rd and get their ILB.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Yeah, the only concern I have is who's going to start at MLB. I like Patterson because he can help fill the Percy Harvin void right away.

ILB can be addressed late if necessary. I'd still lean towards Audie Cole, or else go after a veteran ILB, or OLB and move Henderson inside.

Biggest needs were CB and WR playmaker, so I'm happy to see both. Floyd is a big name, but he's pegged as a pass rusher more than a run defender. Wasn't the size inside I was hoping for.

From the Vikings perspective, I think they'll be looking to improve depth at Guard, Safety, and LB, maybe RB if a name they like is around at the right time. Addressing those spots from the middle of the draft on is doable I suppose. Couple intriguing 2nd tier safeties I was looking at. And Hugh Thornton I'm rooting for b/c of his harsh childhood, but also a big monster guard w/ wrestler strength sounds like a solid investment.

I was hoping we would trade into the 2nd and nab Teo to give us 4 day one starters at positions of need.

We didn't have enough ammo to get back up into the 2nd without trading next years picks. That's something I don't think would be a good idea.

If Barkley lasts until the 5th we should take him.

I was definitely thinking in the back of my head that if don't like any of the ILB left on the table, we'll sign one in FA (one year deal to vet) and use next year's 1st on one. I'm all in for bringing in a rookie QB, who down the road could have a chance to even beat out Ponder in the future if he flops.

Pretty non-descript finish to the draft. A couple guards and linebackers and a punter. Looks like Kluwe is going to be out the door.

Return to Minnesota Vikings
